If you can't find anything on him, do I take that to mean he is another diamond in the rough? I mean no stars or ratings or whatever?

I can't find a rivals/247/or Espn profile one him. Could be another 2-3* seems to have a good build. Just trying to get roots in Florida.

KTGR BigShow ?@KTGRBigShow 7m Pinkel confirms at QB Club that Franklin will be the 1 at QB going into the Fall followed by Mauk and Berkstresser

Again I am fine with this as it looks like Franklin is actually having to WIN the job as opposed to inheriting it by being the incumbent.

I hate to sound like a debbie downer, but I will stick with my thoughts that if Franklin actually wins the position over Mauk...well I can't wait for the Printz era. I truly hope Franklin proves me wrong and makes me eat my words. If he's starting, I will certainly be pulling for him. Just not a ton of faith in him until he proves me otherwise.

Was just reading Matters blog on the QB's. Either I'm reading the numbers wrong or Pinkel was full of shite when saying it was an open competition and there would be equal splits among the QB's. However, it looks like Franklin took 0 reps with the 2nd unit. Mauk got 2 reps in with the 1's but most of his were with the 2's. Same for Berk. Has it been this way all spring? Because if that's the case, of course Mauk's numbers are going to be lower. Or am I reading the numbers wrong?

It has not been that unequal in reps through the other scrimmages. I believe in the first two scrimmages the reps were very evenly split and in the first Mauk came out with the most reps with the 1s. Im not sure but I think I saw somewhere that Henson was the one splitting up the reps and it has been his decision who gets what reps since he is installing his version of the offense.

Thanks for talking me down off of that ledge Mizzou23. I saw that and about lost it, not because Franklin got nothing but reps with the 1's, but because Pinkel had the nerve to say it was an even competition. At least earlier it was. I'd be curious to see a break down of the numbers when each is only working with the 1's.

Tell me where I'm wrong in thinking Mauk's numbers are at least, if not more impressive than Franklin's then in the B&G game? I mean hell, he's working the number 2 offensive unit against the number 1 defensive unit. The 1's should control the game. Conversely, the number 1 offensive unit going against defensive backups should have lit it up like there's no tomorrow. Given that, I have to say, really not impressed with Franklin's efforts over Mauk's like I initially was when reading the numbers from the B&G game. What am I missing?

It's really hard to say. There are so many things we don't see or hear about. We also have to consider what we don't get to see/read about from the practices. Dave matter continues to insist there's been no seperation in the scrimmages. I trust his opinion since he sees it first hand and talks to the coaches

I agree with you on Matter. He doesn't seem to go out of his way to dog anyone and at the same time doesn't go out of his way to pull for anyone.

FWIW..... I saw Eddie's dad at a cookout Saturday night. Said he loves CoMo. Says Coach Hill is very high on him. Hill is surprised & proud of how fast Eddie has picked up the playbook & the leadership he's shown on the practice field & in scrimmages. Hill has told him he's nipping at the heels of the other QB's & is already ahead of Hosnick based on his performance this spring. Says nobody on the field is outworking or out hustling EP......

Love hearing that because he has all the tools to be a real special QB. He could be the best pro-QB Mizzou has by time he enters the draft. Has everything you ask for. Just need to make sure we get someone to protect him.

Quick note from Dave Matter, Franklin has NOT been named the starter. Just still listed as 1 on the depth chart. The competition is NOT over and Mauk still has opportunity to win the job.

I'm a believer on the little I have read or followed. He'll redshirt this year, but I'm beginning to believe there won't be a Mauk era. I wouldn't be surprised one bit to see Printz pass up Mauk by the spring game next year. If Mauk can't beat out Franklin, I don't know that I want him leading the team regardless. Thanks for the info.

Matter says that because GP told him that. I have little doubt GP has his mind made up already. He's trying to appease the anti-Franklin crowd by making it sound like it's going down to the wire.

GP wouldn't have even mentioned Franklin was #1 on the depth chart unless it was over. He could have easily said, "there is no #1 at this time. The competition is still ongoing." he chose not to.
