Among the things former Missouri standout Drew Lock was told by NFL coaches was that he needs to look more like an NFL quarterback. That involves getting rid of his “Justin Bieber” haircut.

Seriously WTF?????

Well 1st I don't watch the NFL so I'm a little behind the times on the bullshite associated with it BUT if I was an NFL exec the last thing I'd worry about is a player's hair

ya, NFL cares about small pointless stuff in players now. how you present your self is such a big thing now, also in basketball. Most coaches organize a day every season in which they have people come in and teach etiquette for eating and talking, and tailors for suits.

Should he consider this request culturally offensive?

All cleancut QB's become Tom Brady, all young coaches become Sean McVay. despite all the money on scouts, coaches and personnel, it is a copy cat league. It used to be copy plays and schemes but now they are copying physical features. Just bring in the damn robots.

Maybe NFL coaches said something too but that's not the impression I had if you listen to the interview. Lock was asked about his hair cut and he started joking about Bieber being a big influence and when Bieb's had his hair long, so did Lock and when Bieb's got it cut, so did Lock. Then in a bit more serious tone he said that Heupel once asked him to name starting QB's with a mop head and he named Brady. Heupel says he's an exception to the rule. It was all in a talk preparing him for things down the road. No different than me telling a client to wear long sleeves and cover the tats before going to Court.

Those interviews are about judging how a player processes stress and their ability to handle coaching. Every officer interviewing for the Naval Nuclear Power program gets the same treatment from the Director of Naval Reactors (4 star admiral and usually a former submarine commander).

Drew had a 100 play playbook in the 6th grade and went thru 3 OCs and 2 HCs in college; Lock ain't going to have any problem adjusting to an NFL playbook or the stress from it.
