ONE BOLD PREDICTION

Will he go pro or won't he? That's the question Mizzou fans have about junior quarterback Drew Lock. Our one bold prediction today is that Lock will return to Mizzou for his senior season. Talking with some sources familiar with the situation it sounds like Lock wants another chance to leave his mark on the Missouri program.

Man, I'd put this one at 50/50. I really don't know.

I think it's very possible he's a first round pick, but I also know the guy loves Mizzou and wants to do something here. With all the other pieces coming back on offense next year. I don't know...

Unless all my years of watching football have been wasted, I'd bet my life he's a 1st rounder.

Jay Cutler was a 1st rounder. Lock has Cutler's tools without the douchebag IDGAF attitude. Hell, compare the stats. Lock >>>>>> Cutler. He'll knock them dead in pre-draft "Jon Gruden QB Camp" phase. In fact, I'd bet my life Gruden won't be able to stand straight when talking about Lock because of the dogknot in his pants.

It wouldn't surprise me if DL comes back and improves again, he doesn't go 1st overall. (barring injury)

I think he’ll be back. I think he likes being a college player, and all that goes with it. He might even get Heisman consideration next year, especially if our team does well as a whole, and he’s leading it.

Agree. Kid loves the Zou. Wants to win. Maybe even wants that shot at Bama before departing. He’s got Chase’s TD record. Still needs the passing record and a Chase Danie level bowl to really leave that mark.

Ive yet to see any draft people even mention Lock as a first day pick.

His decision making can definitely use another year.

I say he stays because he's Missouri to the marrow of his bones. He suffered as an underclassman and is just now tasting success as a Mizzou Tiger with the potential for much more (beating Bama; possible division/conference title).

Apart from that, he needs to stay because:

- He's still too lanky for the NFL.

- His touch needs more improvement.

- His decision-making needs more improvement.

There's no way to know what he'll do, but I'd love to see him return...

Never underestimate the modern day NFL GM.

Luckily for us, there’s many QBs that grade higher than Lock in this draft. Not to mention that the Lick hype train has yet to leave the station.

Anything can happen

Right. Lots of nit picking of Drew's game because everyone here watches him every Saturday.

All of these top guys have warts.

Here's an evaluation by NFL.com draftnik Bucky Brooks after Week One. I can't imagine what he saw after the Missouri State game would have lowered his opinion.
He doesn't put a draft grade on him, but says he could be #2 behind Sam Darnold which would make him a 1st beyond question.

Here's another review (after Arkansas) by former NFL scout and NFLDraftScout.com writer, Rob Rang. Just read how he talks about DL. The NFL front office love fest would become intense.

I think DL is coming back too, but his arm talent would shoot him up the charts.

Anyone know where Kiper and McShay have him rated?

I was watching the Lock INTs and wasactually a little happy afterhe set the season record. They were bad decision INTs that a scout starts to doubt when they think of the other 5 QBs rated higher. Those INTs may have hurt his first round chances. And without first round certainty, i think he will choose to stay.
Is Lock goingto be a great QB in the NFL? No question he has the size and strength but some bad decisions could require another year at the collegiate level. The problem is the teams with better records who are willing to add a qb tothe bench for a couple years while their vet QB fades into the sunset and teaches them. Steve young comes-to mind.
I really hopehe comes back because with him it could be a special year; without him-notsomuch.
I think Beckner is gone, though. Did you notice his speed on the QB run where he was chasing him ? He was blazing for a DT.

Hasn’t Darnold turned the ball over a lot this year?

I think the bigger problem Lock could potentially have is what led to those INT's...that there is no decision making involved. He has one read and one read only and he either throws it there or throws it away. He very rarely makes reads and checks down. At least all the WR's are running their routes this year to serve as a decoy at least.

His OLine is all back and he barely gets touched. He's got a pretty sweet gig with little chance of injury. I'd think he's coming back unless he's gets a very high grade with assurances he'll play early.

Lock isn’t a 1st rounder at this point as far as I’m concerned. I’d be shocked if he doesn’t come back. The East is terrible and new head coaches at Florida and Tennessee won’t change that in 1 year. Nearly the entire team is returning. Just don’t see him going.

All good points but another factor i just thought about is Heupel leaving. If you’re Lock would you risk trying to look good in a new system or leave based on your CV.
