I'd been to a few of those horrible Nebraska games.

I've told the story before, but I have a distant cousin that played linebacker for the Nubs during the mid 90s runs. My first Mizzou game at Faurot Field involved me at 13 years old or so sitting in the Sea of Red Nebraska section with my Mizzou stuff on and getting fricked with by "college football's greatest fans." It was a brutal time, but it was a cool way to be introduced to the game.

I also got to see the first real glimmers of hope in that time too. I don't remember what year (i'm sure it's not hard to figure out), but Mizzou was playing k-State really tough, at the end of the game Larry Smith decided to go for the win instead of the tie (back when there were ties) and it didn't work.

It was my first real experience of getting my hopes up for an awesome win, and then getting the air knocked out of me with a bad loss.

Both of those games prepared me well for what was later to come as a Mizzou fan.

That's awesome. My son's first experience was similar. Took him to the kU game in Arrowhead back in '07 when he was 7 years old. Obviously the atmosphere was crazy that year and the game was great. Of course we were sitting in the middle of the kU section in full Mizzou gear and sat next to Phog Allen's great granddaughter. Son was dishing out the shite talking as good as he received it. Never backed down from 'em.

Sounds like you've raised him well, Reedus.

Went to Neyland Stadium last year for the Mizzou game. Got tickets for Vandy and Ole Miss this year.

Been to Athens for a Georgia/Auburn game and had tickets to a Miss St./Arkansas game a few years back but sold the tickets and went to a bar with some nice ladies I met at the tailgate party. Horrible game so I did the right thing.
