Here's a clarification on what he meant. Social media making a mountain out of a molehill. He meant one fan in particular, based on his understanding of the question.

So you really think a senior in college doesn't understand what what the plural form of a word means? He said something stupid. According to another Franklin quote, someone from the AD approached him and told him he needed to address his comment.

No matter what Franklin meant, his response cannot be interpreted as anything other than completely ignorant. He either misunderstood a simple question or he generalized all Mizzou fans.

Anyway, is anyone here a member of any of the Mizzou pay boards? I hear there's a rumor going around about Pinkel's future and possible replacements. I'm not a member, so this is 2nd hand. Anyone heard anything like this?

There is a reason why you are hearing from some places that 8 or 9 wins is an absolute minimum for Pinkel to survive.

I haven't seen where he said the entire fan base. What I read, he said the rudest fans. I suspect there were more than one unnecessary tweet sent his way last year. I don't know how anyone can deny that SOME (more than one but not all) fans were beyond rude. It's like telling the fat girl she's fat. No need to say it to her face, just go snicker with your friends out of ear shot. Saying it to her face is, in fact, rude.

Here's an article showing how big of dicks some fans are. If you don't like the kid, don't think he's any good, gripe all over the message boards. I don't see a need to be tweeting him with all kinds of bullshite that's frankly embarrassing to the University.

"mizzou fans" is all encompassing. All is implied w/out a quantifier like "some." Unless of course he just doesn't know how the hell to say what he means.

With as much shite as he caught, what fan base do you think, as a whole, was ruder to him? I suspect none. Regardless, it was better left unsaid, both JF calling the fans out and all those that saw fit to be a dick directly to him.

I wonder what he got that was so uncalled for? I'm sure fans watching him stand on the sidelines and ignoring his teammates while the rest of the team busted their butts put him above criticism. Those kind of actions are what make great leaders, right?

Franklin has nobody to blame but himself for what he gets. He has brought it all on himself. You don't go play D1 football if you can't handle some people not liking you or coddling you. Alumni and students (the fans) are the reason the school exists and there is a football team in the first place. Not to mention those rude fans pay his scholarship.

Franklin needs to grow up and somehow become a leader instead of a self-centered whiner. When he does that, everything else will take care of itself.

You're preaching to the choir here. I never said I thought he was a great leader. In fact, I think he's been lousy to date. But I'm also not going to be a bigger dick than usual and send the kid tweets telling him he fricking sucks and if I ever do, I'll be the first to admit I was being rude. Just don't see the big deal. I'm more worried about whether or not he can get the ball to DGB than I am about him calling out people for what they were.

JF was actually just surfing the internets on his iphone at the time and read aloud a Rant thread he stumbled upon in which Arkie fans were discussing mizzoukills.

Last season, I saw some of the tweets that went sent to him by our fans. Rude was an understatement. I was embarrassed that some of our fans hid behind fake names on social media to spew the hateful stuff they did. Trust me - it was terrible. They went after him, his family, his girlfriend, etc. There were threats. I felt really sorry for him. Yes, he had a bad season, and deserved some criticism. But not the sheer hate that he got.

And sure, letting our your frustrations on message boards is one thing, but directly attacking the kid is something else.

Butch Jones said today that he tells his players about Twitter - if it's something you'd send in an email to your mom, girlfriend, or grandmother, go ahead and hit send. If not, rethink it.

Yes, we need to see more leadership from Franklin this season. He needs to focus on playing, and winning. And if he doesn't produce, he should be pulled and Mauk should play.

Twitter.

It ranks right up there with the comments section on CNN.com. Give a moron a keyboard and the internet, and they'll destroy your faith in humanity.

I saw him out once, sorry for giving you all a bad name.

The best part is he said this in a bow tie. Some athletes can pull of a bow tie, but it looks pretty dumb when you just had a terrible season.

This is the guy who volunteered to sit out a game while wearing a giant superman necklace on the sideline. That about sum up this guy.

It has been since the aTm game when JF was out there with his ridiculous Superman necklace on, smoking and joking on the sidelines, while a one legged JFF was single handedly beating our arse.

During the 4th holiday I visited with a family member who works in the Ag dept. He's a Mizzou Phd alum & has lived in COMO for 30 years with many connections, he claims HCGP will retire after this season regardless of 2013 record. He said he's heard this from more than one source within the ADept. I've always trusted his option, but obviously take this as only one man's opinion- please don't kill the messenger, just thought I'd pass this on...

This was the post off powermizzou that you're referencing i'd imagine. It was posted by a tenured poster on the pay boards. Who knows if it's true what will happen or even based on that whether HC GP will change his mind.

We can only hope though.

The Boosters do like the idea of hiring Petrino. They really want some time to pass before they would consider such a thing. But he is in the top 5 of their desired choices. People who think they dont have a say in who to target are naive.

They wanted Alden to talk to Kingsbury, Chaney, etc... and he did. those were names on THEIR list before Yost even left.

So Petrino would get a call. Put his personal issues to the side, the guy can recruit, and is a heck of a coach.

Petrino was a terrible recruiter at arky. He found some talent while at UofL, though.

Either way, just say no to petrino.

I don't know that I'd be pulling for Petrino, but I also don't know that I'd be upset if his name got called. The Arky meltdown on the rant would be epic, particularly if Petrino were to come in and beat Arky in year one. I would probably skip the game just to be here on the rant to watch it unfold.
