You don't have more perspective. You have different perspective.

Yeah, I agree with that too.

Hope people come out and say things aren't as bad on campus like the media is making it out to be!!!

Of course it's not. This is the media we're talking about. Is there racism? Sure. It's everywhere. I don't believe it's any worse at Mizzou than any other school. Should the University address it? Yes, and do what they can to prevent and correct. But it's all being blown out of proportion by the media

Some students have too much power. Now it's like Mizzou is 1960's Ole Miss. I'm like damn it can't be that bad.

Any school with 10,000+ students will have racial incidents each month. Sad that the media is all over this. Football players made it worse because some brotha wanted them to stand up with him. You know he talked them into it....guy looks like Spike Lee. Looks like he can persuade some football players barely making a 2.5 gpa.

Yeah, the guy that brought this to the team is not the brightest bulb. And the activist, Butler, is obviously charismatic and convincing. Hell, he managed to make them believe he was going to hunger strike himself to death! That was never gonna happen.

Is there racism? Sure. It's everywhere though. And I think it's worse now than it was 10 years ago.

Without knowing much about the guy, my initial gut reaction is that he is like a cult leader with the way he tries to control all aspects of people's lives. Dictating who will and will not speak to the media. Convincing people to put everything on the wire for him.

Exactly. I only know what I've read in the past 2 days. But this guy loves the cameras and the sound of his own voice. That's why I said he's a narcissist and had no intention of carrying through with a hunger strike. No way. He strikes me as someone whose main cause his himself - and he advances his main cause by adopting all these little protests, and talking about social injustice and righting all the wrongs. He's a grad student and already has his own marketing firm for crying out loud! But he's good. At selling snake oil.

I read that letter and list of demands.....said to myself......i know a mizzou football player didn't write that. Red flag came up. They got used. I wonder if any players read the list of demands before acting out. This shite being national news is an embarrassment.

808 and Reedus.

It would actually be worse for Mizzou by doing that. The best thing you can do is teach them how to pick apart the protesters logic and humiliate ridiculous movements and their absurd demands.

My concern is less to do with that and more to do with her physical safety. Probably just being overly protective.

She has a better head on her shoulders than her dad. She can more than handle her own if it's a matter of just talking, whether it's a racist douche ranting or a racist protester ranting.

I have always displayed rabid support for Mizzou and my children have learned from that - they want to go to school there. Unless things change drastically in the next few years, I will not support my children attending the University of Missouri. My alma mater is a disgrace.

I have steered clear of this, but I have to say I'm pretty damned disappointed in the support for this thread.

I served this country on the ideal that the US Constitution should be upheld and honored by ALL Americans. I don't agree with the protest, but as far as I can tell they stayed within the confines of the Constitution.

Our Country doesn't guarantee we will all agree, but respect the process as laid out by the founding fathers. And hopefully the Right of Assembly sparks useful debate.

What's worse than serving a country where the citizens have forgotten it's core, is the fact that I killed 7 men with the belief that my Country's ideals were superior than the Fascist ideals of the Iraqi government, only to keep reading how another Americans ideals or experiences are somehow not worthy or even destructive.

We should be proud that young people used peaceful protest as laid out by the Constitution of our Great Nation. It actually serves as a model to those who loot, rob and hurt other Americans, in supposed protest. It also gives no opportunity to those who profit from hate like the Sharpton's of the world.

This particular issue may not concern you, but if there was an issue that affected you or your children, I would hope you would choose a Constitutional method of protest and be open to intelligent debate of the issue.

Tomorrow is Veteran's Day. and instead of those empty "Thank you for your service" consider we risk our lives and take other lives, so All Americans have access to our system as prescribed by the Constitution, not just the Americans we agree with.

They oppressed and assaulted a press photographer trying to do his job under the Freedom of Press.

Simply, this protest was about power and control.

I appreciate your sacrifice for our country.

SV, I support the students' right to protest and make any ridiculous demands they want. I do not support my alma mater caving to their ridiculous demands. I do not support my favorite football team going along with, and ultimately becoming the catalyst for the caving to the demands.

You also fought for my right to be outraged and to peacefully express my outrage by withholding my money and support. Thanks for that, by the way.
