I heard a rumor for the South EZ complex today

Supposedly, the entire current south EZ will be removed. The new complex will be built in it's place and include a combination of general seating and more suites. Capacity would be roughly the same with perhaps and slight increase. It would also include a "wow factor" locker room, new weight room and coaches offices/meeting rooms.
There is also a second option that includes a simple addition to the current south EZ structure to house the above. This would be cheaper but also presents some logistical issues with the current concourse and restrooms etc
Top option is preferable and what they are shooting for. Will be scaled to match the East side addition, and longer term the plan is to tear down the west side tower and mirror what was done to the east side last offseason.
Hope to have initial funding in place, option decided on and design firm/contractor in place to break ground immediately following next season

That would be option 2. What they are wanting to do would be much better

there is no "cheap" way to do what needs to be done, adding an enclosed level with offices, a new weight and training facility can't be added cheaply. The concrete lego block that is the current south EZ was not designed for it.

Tearing down the existing makes sense. The concourse situation is so bad and same with access. To fix all that, it needs to be redone and that also makes it easier to integrate with the massive new structure that will get built.
This also helps properly utilize the area below the stands and concourse.

that doesn't include all the new stuff they want to put in that structure.

Do it right. Find the money(easy for me cuz I don't have that kind of money). Tear it down. Putting lipstick on a pig ain't gonna increase the wow factor with recruits.

exactly, there is really only one right way to do this.
Like the age of concrete bowl stadiums that Busch Memorial II represented, they served their purpose, but they are no longer acceptable by modern standards. The soonest this could possibly happen would be the next off-season after next year, and that's probably pushing it considering the amount of financing, design work and contract decisions that have to be made.
If it has to be done in stages for time and finance considerations, so be it, it still needs to be done the right way.
Here's the mock up design that matches the old Faurot design:
this one is more in line with the new, east side, look:
clearly we aren't going to build a 130k seat stadium like these represent, but it gives an idea of the architectural style we are interested in.

They should havery torn down the east side and rebuilt significantly closer to field. Sacraficing fan closeness for stupid fire engine track makes me sad.

Financing isn't an issue for Alden. They haven't allocated anything for the SECN revenue. that should more than make the loan payment w/out hitting up the boosters.
But you know Alden is going to hit up the boosters, which is just gravy.

That would be bitchin'. I hope it looks like a shiny glass tower with black tinted windows topped by a imposing, backlit glass oval tiger logo that just pops when you see it at night.

I like where your head is at!
I also picture a tall, black tinted window covered tower over the south end. It will look menacing approaching the stadium from the north.

That would have cost 3x as much as what they did, and also necessitated doing the same to both south and west structures.
At that point, you might as well just build a whole new stadium and that type of money just isn't available.
The second set of pictures that Jagd posted are more in line with what I was told. Not that many seats of course, but the general scope and design

What I imagine doing on the enclosure level is at least 4 or 5 coaches offices on one corner end, enough for at least the HC, both coordinators and maybe an assistant or 2. When they bring in a recruit to talk on their visits they will be able to see the field they envision themselves playing on while the coaches are talking to them. This is something other programs are already doing, btw.
In the center area probably a half dozen or so suites, then on the other corner end a lounge with at least 100 seat capacity, if rules permit you could perhaps sponsor some state high school teams to come watch games there. Basically mixed standard fan comfort suites and special purpose.
All that on top of new locker rooms, weight-training facilities and team meeting room, allowing less transit time for players on days when they practice on the main field. And no need to expand the current practice area facilities any time soon.
You are right, we are not the Aggies, we can't just drop a half billion on an stadium/facilitates upgrade, would be nice though wouldn't it. Some of it may have to happen in stages, but the good part of this plan is we don't have to tear down the old weight/training/meeting rooms to do this! So there is a little leeway for getting it done.
