Total reversion to the '07-'08 teams or is there hope?

Won't be bad at all. This is probably the best collection of talent we have had under Pinkel. Corners are young though.

LB is kind if scary though

That may be a generous way to put it.

I actually look forward to seeing how our secondary responds. I think there is a butt load of talent back there now, but a lot of it is young. With nearly 20 defensive backs, though, there will be a ton of competition.

I think we get better at every spot in the backfield other than Gaines. And even there, I don't know if the drop off is going to be that severe.

Good to hear. Beyond Webb it just doesn't look like we have a ton of battle-tested guys back there. I don't even remember hearing Ian Simon's name ever.

Have there been any reports on how Scherer is progressing?

Simon was basically a starter in the Nickel, and Singleton, Penton and Gibson all played last year.

I actually think the secondary is going to be pretty damn good.

If the line does not generate the pass rush it had last year, and it probably will not, then I see DC Steck doing something he hates to do.

Blitz !!!!

Let's see if those backers can put pressure on the QB

Danny Heitart is, IMO, the best evaluator of HS talent in Missouri outside of our staff.

He believes that Andy Bauer and Logan Cheadle have the ability to play immediately. Calls Cheadle an EJ Gaines, but more physical.

Cheadle enrolled early and will be in Spring practice.

Might take another year for Wingo and Ross, but I'll bet they earn some PT this year.

Every year that we lose a star or two on the DL everyone is worried about taking a step back...honestly the combination of Golden/Hoch/Vincent/Ray makes me think the DL will be pretty darn good. Although, once again depth is a concern, but I feel good about at least having Augusta back there.

I think they're deep up the middle. It's on the ends that I'm concerned. Apparently, they're going to take a look at some of the DT's moving outside to add some depth.

Hatley going to NG was the biggest surprise for me on the spring depth chart. That tells me he is not quick enough to beat a tackle but quick enough to beat a guard or center.

So now it is Loud and Harris the only backups with any practise experience. Very thin.

Penton and Gibson both looked good when on the field last year which both were filling in for Gaines, losing White will not hurt at Safety either. Lbers are scary though there is some talent there. Hatley bumping out to work some DE is somewhat of a worry.

It also concerns me that Scherer has been moved to OLB, and Brothers is now to replace Wilson.

Seems that Scherer would be more nature fit for MLB.

I think that means those two LB slots are open. Could see Biesel and Lee moving up.

It will be as bad as reedus23's posts on this board.

On a serious note, Penton started vs UF if not a few other games last year. I remember specifically the UF game and he was a stud. He was making tackles behind the LoS and solid on coverage. He is every bit as physical as EJ was and that is not usual for that type of CB.

On my more serious note, I agree with this. I'm not saying it was every time, but I do remember a number of times that he got up field and fought through a block to shut down the bubble screen. Did a good enough job shutting it down that it stood out to me.

Where is Tavon Ross lining up? He can make your secondary very good.

Haven't heard much recon since we're closing off spring practices now, but I am curious about the plan for this kid.

He will start buried in the depth chart just like every freshman. If he shows strong, which I suspect he will, he will move his way up. I think he will have a legitimate shot at getting time at one of the safety spots. I think a lot of the youth in the secondary is at the CB spot.
