both teams have snoozers this weekend and will exit the state of tennessee 2-0 come Saturday night. So I'm up to discuss our matchup for a while. Feel free to ask any questions about our team, our town, stadium, whatever. A little info about your tigers would be appreciated as well.

Last year I made the trip to Columbia and had a blast. I was blown away by the downtown atmosphere, and told everyone I was with that it reminded me of Athens (although not quite as awesome!) I had a phenomenal host who showed me around campus and even got us into the stadium on Friday night to take pictures. I'll share my pictures from that weekend when I get home if anyone really GAS, which none of you probably do.

Anyways..good luck this weekend and I hope to see some of y'all in Athens!

Wish I was going to be in Athens, I'll actually be in Columbia because family is going to be there next weekend.

As far as our team:
We've had trouble getting our offense moving early in games, lots of three and outs and missed opportunities. Once it has gotten rolling, it's looked great both on the ground and through the air. Of course, this doesn't mean a lot since we've played garbage teams.

Here's a depth chart (pdf) so you can see who I'm referencing if I'm not clear.

Russell Hansbrough has emerged as our most dangerous HB. Josey (HB), who is back from an injury that sidelined him for nearly two seasons isn't quite what he used to be, but is a decent option as well.

Franklin appears to finally be healthy and have the confidence he showed two seasons ago in our final year in the Big 12.

Our o-line appears to be significantly improved over last year's injury-decimated group. Boehm has transitioned quite nicely to the center position.

Our WR core looks pretty solid, DGB seems to be growing into the player we thought he was going to be last season.

On the defensive side of the ball we look suspect at best. We've been gashed for big yards against inferior competition.

DEs Kony Ealy and Michael Sam have been bright spots, but you can tell we're missing DT/NG Sheldon "Old Man Football" Richardson anchoring that d-line.

I don't know what to make of our secondary, they've given up big plays but also have come up with 10 interceptions in 4 games. Aside from Gaines, I don't think there is a ton of talent in our DBs.

Our kicker fricking sucks.

Overall, it's tough to say what we have this season. We're basically untested, but from what I've seen I think we'll fare a bit better this season than we did last year primarily due to an improved offense and healthy QB.

I like anyone with pink floyd and that popcorn man in his avi/sig.

georgia may stomp us into oblivion... will have a better idea after this weekend.

What is the word on Gurley? Fully healthy?

Would love to see the pictures WG. Hope you post them. I'm sure they'll find their way to the rant though with some thread about Mizzou's poor attendance since I'm assuming no one was in the stadium on a Friday night.

Not so convinced it's going to be as easy as you say for the Tigers this weekend but I hope you're right. As for going to Athens, that one might get ugly. Y'all will probably have the best offense we face other than A&M. I guess I'll get a little better picture of our defense this weekend, but the matchup of our backs against Murray and company worries me.

I was hoping to just go to my original post and C&P, but it's locked so I can't get in there. I'll leave out the stuff from Saint Louis since it's all touristy and just do campus stuff.

Cool stuff WG. Thanks.

Gotta say though, after the changes this year, that "M" last year looked shitty in comparison.

He sprained his ankle and hasn't practiced this week. He's "day to day", but there is no logical reason why we should play him this weekend.

If it was up to me, I'd sit him until Florida unless he is 100% healthy. Even though I think he's the best RB in the country, there's no need to bring him back early and do further injury. If he plays against missouri I don't think he'll be 100%.

thanks for the info.

I thought Josey was going to be the go to guy for yall, it sounds like he's not quite lived up to the billing yet.

Our defense is definitely spotty and still feeling their way, especially in the secondary. On LSU's last drive, we had 3 true freshmen in the secondary alone. Yall should score some points on us. Our offense is legit though, so we'll just have to try to score more.

It truly is by committee. Josey has been just as effective at times. All 3 (Josey, Hansbrough and Murphy) are all a bit undersized but they're quick and have good vision. There have been times I have sworn Josey is our best back. Then a quarter later I'll swear Murphy is our best back. Then the next I'll swear Hansbrough is our best option.

Hey, I recognize those pics!!

WG and his buddies were sitting in a lot by the golf course and thinking there wasn't any tailgating at Mizzou. I did my best to change that perception.

I believe Josey is still listed as the #1 back, but all three get plenty of playing time. And as of right now, we're averaging more rushing yards than anyone in the SEC (yes, inferior competition, I know), so I have no complaints with this approach.

This could be a shootout. And welcoem WGDawg!!

WG I'm flying into atl on Thursday and am staying there Thursday night, think I'm going out in buckhead. Heading into Athens Friday afternoon and am staying with some friends who are in grad school there, can't wait even though it could get ugly.

Also badass pictures, was that you taking the beer bong off the ZOU bus in red haha?

I'll let WG handle that one.

They made the ZOU bus move this year - they put them down in the lot with all the RVs.

what bars are you going to? Buckhead is kind of "bro"-y, I like the vibe a lot better in midtown and highlands. At any rate, Atlanta has some good bar areas that you'll like. Buckhead is mostly the well off young professional crowd, in my experience.

glad you'll be with some UGA folks, they can show you around and show you the good spots.

Hahah awesome. I'll have to talk to my friends and maybe do the midtown bars instead. Ill throw up my email later and maybe get some suggestions from you for what to do in Athens and possibly get a beer at some point.

Yeah absolutely, I'd be down for that.

I HATE that it's a noon game, as you really won't get a good grasp on our tailgating, or the stadium in general. I can already tell you the upper level student sections will be practically empty, which is pathetic. The student section under the scoreboard will be maybe 70% full at kickoff. It's a shame.
