It's not from a talent perspective, especially on defense. The off-field stuff is distracting, but a new HC might clean house a little.
I agree the talent is there. A Scott Rousell (FootballScoop) tweet from a week or 2 ago said that potential candidates are concerned about the off field stuff.

The most frustrating part of this whole thing is the hire was basically fool proof. Chase the big fish and if you don't get them just hire one of the brightest, most well respected young coaches in CFB who happens to already be here AND an alum.
Rhoades is very close to fricking up what was pretty much unfrickable.

I don't think he will. I think he does want a coach with a OC/QB coach background. I think if Dykes was the guy he would've already hired him.

Just media filler. Ignore it.

The off the field stuff isn't going to bother anyone outside of this board

If a potential clay is scared off by the protest BS, they don't have the chops to be a head coach, IMO. There will always be distractions and issues. It's everywhere, something in every program: thug culture, boosters meddling, sexual assault, drugs, it's always something. Good coaches know how to get through that crap.

MR is working to find the best possible hire. My guess is if he doesn't find what he's looking for then Odom is the fall back guy.
I truly believe that your opinion is correct.
If the AD were still Alden, I would be really concerned at this point. But we have Rhoades. Kinda makes you think for a second.
Time to set back and wait.
