I'm thinking all this is alot of hot air and we end up with Odom or one of the lesser candidates. In other words, we were trolled.

Did anyone here really think Fedora or Richt were real possibilities?

We need Odom.

Should have hire him a long time ago and let him get to work on putting his staff together.

Some certainly did with the secret hire yet to be revealed. Man, at this stage, I'm cool with Odom, just don't throw Dykes at us.

There's still a lot of coaches out there. If by Friday night Odom isn't the coach, we got a big fish.

I still have this gut feeling Patterson is in play just on the down low. If turns out false, meh it was fun to consider. Odom also. Hermann is also still in play as he has yet to sign an extension.

I could live with any of those three.

Here's the thing. Whether it was Fedora or Richt doesn't matter. But Mizzou is one of the top 25-30 programs in the country, and should certainly pull a top 25 coach. We have the money, and the program isn't a dumpster fire like it was when Pinkel took over. When he came in, he couldn't even field a full defense of scholarship players! We are a good program, especially on defense, and a good coach should be able to come in and be competitive immediately.

I don't get the attitude that we can't pull a decent hire, not at this stage.

Richt was a stretch, not because he's too good for Mizzou, but because I don't see him wanting to play against kids he recruited and coached. He should leave the conference for a while. But Fedora? Why not?

Agree, Richt wasn't going to coach in the SEC again. He interviewed at lesser jobs in different conferences for a reason.

I would love to get Fedora or Patterson. Those are the two guys at the top of my list. Everything you wrote is probably true, but then again, we are Mizzou and never seem to get the best hire we go after.

I'm ok with Odom at this point in time. Call me pessimistic but I just don't see us getting anyone above Odom in the pecking order, and quite possibly someone below him.

Sonny Dykes and Willie Taggart are trending up and Odom is trending down....

I hear you. But you're thinking University of Missouri Department of Athletics under Mike Alden. There is a new sheriff, and Mack Rhodes has a rep for making big hires. Supposedly, he's a closer. There were always rumors of coaches not wanting to work for Alden; I think we have the opposite with Rhodes.

I'm holding out hope that after 15+ years with Alden at the helm, Rhodes can do a little better. If not, perhaps we hired the wrong AD.

It kinda is in a way. The off field stuff that's happened over the last month or so, has other coaches concerned.

Great point.

We are so in the dark, there may very well be names we know nothing about for good reasons. I'm almost to the point now where I'm just going to set back and wait for the announcment. But I'll admit, it is a little fun speculating especially when I can convince myself something makes sense. LOL.

It's not from a talent perspective, especially on defense. The off-field stuff is distracting, but a new HC might clean house a little.

MR is working to find the best possible hire. My guess is if he doesn't find what he's looking for then Odom is the fall back guy.

Yeah I understand the Alden angle and agree. It's time though for Mack to earn that rep he has. I also agree with URHatinIt, campus politics may very well be effecting some of these coaches decisions.

What can I say, my pessimistic side is taking over and I see an Odom hire (which is ok although no HC experience bothers me) or someone below him like Dykes. Another kick in the nutskis again.

There's a lot of coaches that are considered below Odom in the coaching world.

Rhoades is going to frick this up. Just wait.

He's going to hire Sonny Dykes and send the program into a tailspin.

The Dykes shite just will not go away
