Turnovers are a problem
Robertson is not a point guard
Tilmon can't help himself from fouling
Live by the 3, die by the 3
Jontay needs to work on his post defense
Nikko is going to be our best bench player
CVL still sucks, that airball was
We need MPJ this season to contend
This team shouldn't lose a non conference home game
We will probably out rebound everyone even when we lose

Last but not least, we're very very young.

Just the usual Cullen-lovers.

I know you qualified it, but it's hard to take away anything after 3 games.

We had two great, and one shite.

We'll get a better idea with more data.

CVL playing 11 minutes is not the reason Mizzou lost. I doubt he is ever the reason for a win or a loss this season.

I would put this loss on a bad game plan, Mizzou played way to slow.
Tilmon needs to play 25 minutes a game. He’s also better offf if pick’n’roll and ball movement, than post ups.
Barnett, Puryear and Robertson all had bad first half’s. Without MPJ those 3 have to play better.

I posted my starting lineup last week, CVL was no where near it. He doesn't bring anything to this team imo that we couldnt get by moving Robertson to SG and having Harris or Phillips run point.

CVL was 9th in minutes against Utah, the only reason he wasn’t last is because Tilmon fouled out in 6 minutes.

You have totally read my mind and especially living or dying by the three. I honestly thought that Mizzou played great defense, but was tired of running around playing man to man against all their motion offense. Especially all the pick and roll. Utah wasn't that athletic, but they run an offense and defense that fit their talent level. They started hitting their threes and Mizzou missed theirs most of the night.

CVL played the bulk of those 9 minutes in the first half I'm guessing, you know when he was missing the entire rim and we went down by 17.

You mean the same first half that Tilmon only played 2 minutes due to fouls and Puryear/Barnett/Robertson combined to shoot 0-13.
CVL will not be the reason Mizzou wins or loses any games this year. If he is then the season has gone off the rails.

If he is not going to effect the game in any way then why does he play?

I don't think anyone thinks he is THE reason we lost, but you can still question why he is starting.

I just find it interesting that he’s the guy getting attention.
For half stats for a few players:
Robertson: 2 points (0-6 shooting) 1 rebound, 1 assist and 2 TOs
Barnett: 2 points (0-2 shooting), 4 rebounds and 1 assist
Puryear: 0 points (0-5 shooting) 2 rebounds and 2 TOs.

People expect, and rightfully so, those players to play better.

CVL has been a nothing burger, at best, since he stepped on campus.

I didn’t think CVL would play much this year, but I don’t really have a problem with the role he’s asked to play.

I also think that for Mizzou to reach its potential, CVL shouldn’t play much more than 10-15 minutes a game. And I would be ok if higher ceiling players like Harris were to take minutes from him by late in the year.

For as good as Pressey was, he didn’t start as a freshman until injuries forced him to late in his freshman season.

CVL gets attention because he has no upside.

Robertson, Puryear and Barnett had awful games. But they don’t always. He always does.

Yeah, it’s a cumulative effect over time. VanLeer has shown nothing his whole career. The other guys have at least shown some ability to make plays at times.

There’s no doubt that other guards have more potential than CVL. But they haven’t taken the position completely away from CVL.

CVL plays because the coaches trust him in his role. Until other guards can do the same he will continue to get minutes. Mizzou should blow out Emporia State, so CVL will get close to 25 minutes in that game.

It’s sad that CVL’s only job is to hit wide open 3’s and the odd contested 3 and he still can’t do it in year 3.

Pretty much the exact same issue on Monday.

Why is Nikko only playing 10 minutes? Guy had 8 points and 4 rebounds in barely any playing time. Much rather see him out there with Porter when Tilmon is out. Put Puryear at 3 and sit Barnett on the bench.

Hey, at least CVL shot 33% from 3 last night...considering the rest of the team was 0-14.
