This isn't really thread worthy, but whatever.

Anybody else think it's funny we have a Bud Light banner on our jumbotron, yet it is a dry campus... seems odd.

Nothing surprises. They should rename the football field Wrigley Junior. We're cursed.

Well, it's not a dry city or county, and campus is dry but not in certain places and for certain people. So "Dry" doesn't really mean "Dry" in this sense. More like spotted with dampness.

Apparently it's a "green" campus as well, and I ain't talking about the Eco kind...

how bout it? huh...huh, nudge, cough...

Carry on, and bama zou isn't going to be happy about this thread. This is not stepping up your game.

The campus isn't dry on gamedays and they serve bud light in the stadium. Doesn't seem odd to me.

I didn't know they served in the arena... wonder why they can't serve in the football stadium but do serve in the bb arena.

I believe they serve it in the Club area of the basketball arena, and in the suites and club lounge at the football stadium. Fans in the regular seats can't partake.

Yeah, then why not have alcohol advertisements in the football stadium? That would be lucrative. The Bud Light logos on the jumbo tron doesn't seem very consistent with the rest of the policies. I don't care, I'm just saying it's odd.

Easy answer - follow the money. The stadium may be officially dry, except for the private areas, but AB (or whoever they are these days) pays big money to sponsor athletics. And there you go.

I get that it's about money. I guess I don't see why it would be okay to have advertisements at the basketball arena, but not the football stadium. If they sponsor athletics, fine, but why just at the basketball arena. Just seems odd.

That's all about the contract they negotiate through Mizzou Sports Properties. Basketball signage, depending on where it is, may make sense to them because it's shown on TV. Basketball scoreboards, of signage under the scorer's table, gets your logo flashed on TV numerous time during a game; same with signage under the goal. In football, they don't often show the jumbotron - and would never show any signage facing the street.

So it's all about what they decide is valuable and pay MSP for. IMO, football stadium signage is generally not a good investment, if you're going for TV impressions, but basketball can be.
