Running game didn't look bad...RIII had solid numbers just not enough touches

More touches for the RBs would be nice but I'm guessing they just had no faith in the OL.

iirc Bama's biggest weakness going into the season was their secondary

RIII averaged just under 5 yds a carry so they did OK

I agree I was just guessing on why RBs didn't get more touches. It seemed like we really really wanted to throw to Hazelton as much as possible. Neither of the transfer WRs were impressive and that was a bit disappointing.

Hopefully Hazelton was just rusty because of his injury. He was a friggin stud at Vtech but his hands were very average against Bama.

Probably bc we were behind and Drink wanted to score quicker but I'm guessing. We had too many self-inflected wounds that kept us from running more. The 4th down option to the short side of the field was either a really bad call from Drink or a really bad audible from Robinson. I liked going for it on 4th just not the way the play was run.

If drink thinks Robinson is the better qb, he won't make it at Mizzou. I hope he was just throwing this game away to prevent the better qb from getting hurt vs bama.

And keeping Walters was a definite mistake

This was one game- against Alabama. You have no idea who the better QB might be, and Drink might not either with such limited practice time. If one doesn't stand out from the other, that tells us all we need to know anyway- neither is great.

The defense hit hard and never quit. No one quit. Very few penalties and lots of discipline to be seen. If this is a preview of a team taking on the identity of the coach- then Mizzou is in good hands with Drink.

I agree with most of that. I'm not sure score was why we passed so much though. We came out of the gate targeting Hazelton several times on the first few drives.

The defense still can't stop a pass when they know it is coming. We will continue to give up huge pass plays until something changes. This has been a constant under Waters.

The reduction in penalties is a good sign for sure.

Do you realize that Alabama already have the offense set up and had many of their 4* and 5* players back and are running pretty much the same thing and are ready and Drinkwitz did not know who are who on the team and had to test them out with limited time. The defense had no chance against the number one team in the SEC and number 1 or 2 in the polls. You got to understand Drinkwitz can't replaced most of the 3* players for 4* and 5* to compete against Alabama! Got to give Drinkwitz 3 years! to adjust and recruits his players and get to know the SEC teams and their coaches so he can game plan much better in year 2 and 3. He just started game one at Missouri with limited practice and recruited with limited visit and is on restricted scholarship and visits. so it is amazing he is doing a great job so far with all that going on. Drinkwitz even beat the spread and lost to Alabama by 19 and not get blown out like Odom gets every time he faces a top 15 team! Drinkwitz is the real deal and a steal for Missouri at 4 Million a year and many other schools wished they had gotten him.

Look at Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M! He hasn't beaten Alabama and always have at least 4 losses a year. He has a better recruiting backyard. Missouri will be ready to compete in year three.

Are you at practice every day? Are you analyzing film every day? If not, it's safe to say the professional coach making millions knows his team far better than any of us do. If you are going to overreact after every loss, then go cheer for Clemson or Alabama.

Bama was loading the box; Drink probably wanted to get their LBs back a couple of yards.

Nobody else on our schedule has Jaylen Waddle, and probably not Smith either

We had some plays where we could have covered better, but if you look at the two big gainers to Waddle we had good coverage both times. He’s just that good, and Jones was really accurate with the ball.

Bama is just very, very good. Pretty clearly the best team in the SEC IMO

We shall see. The last couple years when we constantly gave up 3rd-and-long conversions it wasn't due to busted coverage. We typically had people in coverage in what appeared to be man-to-man but our guys were unable to make a play on the ball. I can never get a good enough camera angle to tell if we are playing cover 1 or cover 0 in those situations. Vs Bama it appeared we were typically in Cover 1 as the safety was trying to close on the passes too.

I get that Bama is good but those exact plays happened all the time last year looking the exact same way even against teams like UT, UK, USC, etc. I didn't see anything to make me think we have improved there.

Reminds me of HCGP when we lost a close one to Texas in the early years of his time in COMO.

If only Sterk hired you as coach instead. So when Drinkwitz gets fired after losing to Vanderbilt 77-3, be sure to put in your application. I have no doubt you will have all the answers.

Drink isn't getting fired anytime soon. Criticism isnt saying he should be fired.

Walters should be fired.
