That’s stupid. He shouldn’t feel obligated to do so. It’s a shame. He’s obviously a stand up dude. Never got in trouble for anything at school. Goes to class and plays ball. Will graduate this year.
Just absurd.

Oh for the love of Pete.

If I had to apologize for all the things I said when I was 14 it would take me a month or two.

It's the right thing to do. Apologize, the story is dead in 24 hours and he is back focused on football. Anything else just fuels the media and keeps the story alive and becomes a distraction for the team.

Sure what he said was stupid and childish but his statement and apology were very good. As i tell my kids, there is no dumber animal on the planet than a 13-30 year old male.

If I had social media at 14 I’d never be able to run for office or do anything with the public eye on me.

It makes being a kid harder than it should be. Kids are supposed to do stupid shite and say stupid shite and learn from their mistakes. That’s how they become adults.

The person who sent this to the media is an asshat, and the “journalist” who ran the story are sorry excuses for people.

Lock seems like a pretty stand up guy, and shouldn’t even have to address stuff like this

This is fricking stupid; the media or anyone else looking for a gotcha from a 14 yr old needs to die in a fire.......slowly.

A few points.

There’s a world of difference between 14 and 18. And 18 and beyond. By 18, you should have enough information at your disposal to be cognizant of racial and homophobic slurs. Particularly in this day and age.

At 14 and below, I wasn’t fully cognizant of the gay community and their plight and often used “gay” and a standing for “stupid.”

That is to say I never used the f-word so many are infatuated with. Ever.

And I sure as frick never used racial slurs. But I also grew up with black, Indian, and Asians are among my best friends.

Much of this can be solved with parenting.

And this is the issue with social media. Once you put it out there, it’s out there forever.

Companies troll your social presence.

Is it right? frick no. I think it’s an invasion.

But that’s the world we’ve created for ourselves.
