Do you think this guy can replace Barnett next year?

Nice jumper plus he will take the ball inside to score.

Probably not immediately. I do have high hopes for Santos.

No. Barnett is playing at all conference level right now.

Next season Jontay and Tilmon will need to carry the team. I do think Santos and Watson will be very good by their second season at Mizzou.

I would be suprised if Jontay leaves as a second round pick. Now if he plays the rest of SEC play, I could see Jontay getting a late first round grade and leave.

Also a buddy of mine who is an NBA developer thinks everything adds up for him leaving, if he wants to. Since hes always behind the scenes he said jontays assets/skills, along with age = what NBA teams drool over. Plus is MPJ is gone, I dont see why he has to stay here.

I agree that Jontay is a NBA talent. But second round picks have nonguaranteed contracts. He could stay another year and be a lottery pick, if he’s not given a first round grade.
The Denver Nuggets have a big that has similar style of play. Nikola Jokic

Jontay is nowhere near ready for the NBA! He would get his lunch ate. He needs 1, and maybe 3 more years to be ready. He’s too soft, and needs a ton of work in the weight room.

When it comes to that source that I heard about him leaving early who knows, that's just what I heard. But what I'm saying about my friend who is a developer who says he's already legit and ready to go, he knows a little bit more than you and I.

Jontay is so soft around the basket that he’d be silly to go out IMO.

He shot a 5 foot fadeaway over a 6’2” guard in the Florida game.

Although I agree that he needs to develop that part of his game, there aren’t many NBA bigs that are really playing in the paint.

If Jontay comes back next season, the offense will need to run through him. He could easily lead the team in points, rebounds, assists and blocks as a sophomore.

He probably has legit talent, but his body isn’t there yet. He needs a lot of work, and aging. Heck he’s barely 18 if that.

Jontay’s body is as weak as is often suggested here. He rarely gets pushed around when playing defense or going for rebounds. His footwork in the post needs work. And does his skill development of using both hands.
He will get stronger, but the skill development is more critical to him.

I think he is a top-15 pick after his sophomore year. His body will really change with a full offseason with the strength and conditioning staff

Jontay could be a first round pick this year. He is getting to play a bigger role with MPJ hurt. If he comes back for his sophomore season he will be a lottery pick.

Also:

@JarrettTSutton

I get more and more questions about Jontay Porter from NBA scouts and personnel. He’s emerged on the scene, ahead of schedule and continuing to improve. So much upside to his game, not sure he even realizes how good he can be. A performance like tonight against Maten is huge.

I hate to be the one to tell you guys, but id say hes on the high half of leaving.

Like I said, the guy I know knows his stuff. Obviously this is up to jontay, but saying hes a while away for the nba is false.

For the NBA scouts:

Hes one of the youngest if not youngest players in college basketball

Hes of one the best passers for a big

He can score from all three spots, and hes a big

He can dribble

He has great size and legth

He is a great free throw shooter

quote:

- what he needs to improve on:

Being more physical and getting tougher

Scouts are drooling
