I think you missed my point. GP has consistently had or tried to place his best receiver in the slot. Brown is his best receiver this year so he is in the slot.

And this year the receivers are consistently open. Maybe not every play, but they are open most plays.

There has been a few times where they make the wrong read. But mostly it's a pass & catch problem; the pass was bad, or a good throw that is dropped.

The WR's are not catching the ball but MM has a 40 yard arm and trying to make 60 yard passes.

I think some of the WR's surprised when the ball get's to them when it is over a 25 yd pass

Right, Dilosa catches the ball. Makes sense to demote him in favor of a walk on former QB...

I always try to remind myself that the coaches have much more access to information than the fans do, but man they do some goofy shite sometimes.

yea that's why the "slot guy" seems like the 'best guy' because he's the one our QB's are typically capable of actually getting the ball to on shorter routes.

Pinkel said Mauks shoulder is "sore" and "dinged". Guess that explains why he was throwing all those ducks last game, but it makes even less sense that we're still going to play him over Lock, I don't understand.

Makes even less sense that MM is trying to throw bombs when he knows he cannot get it there

He's said that the last two weeks. So we are sitting a more talented, healthy QB in favor of a average (at best) injured QB because...well who in the frick knows? He's "earned" it?

Where did he say this? I'd love to read the quotes.

Thank you.

Can someone explain to me why Pinkel is sabotaging this season. Other than loyalty, what other reason would he choose Mauk over Lock?

you should probably follow morrison on twitter... (like I do)

quote:

Pinkel asked if he was aware that Maty Mauk is battling a sore shoulder: "I'm aware of that, yes. It's very unusual to see him underthrow any. His shoulder's sore, but I don't know if that's a big part of it."

he'll let you know when he writes stuff...

other interesting snippets..
quote:

Pinkel says MU will "make a decision" on who replaces Kentrell Brothers if he can't go. Clarence Green stepped in vs. Kentucky.

Brothers won't be out long.. THANK ODIN!!!! (I would be truly fukking pissed if he missed his last season)

quote:

Pinkel says Cam Hilton was on MU's scout team the majority of the time, thought he should get a look at receiver. He has the option to go back to safety after season: "I think he's got a chance to help us there."

wasn't expecting that one, but whatevs.. at least he won't rot w/ a redshirt on..

quote:

Pinkel said the team thinks both Jason Reese and Clayton Echard can do all the things Culkin did. Said Reese is a bit more of a perimeter threat than Echard: "It'd be a great time for him to step up and help the football team."

so apparently Blanton is no where near ready after just 1 year, another "diamond" that's going to need 4 years to get ready to see the field I guess.

quote:

Pinkel says Joey Burkett "will play more. There's no question about that, also." Burkett is Brothers' nominal backup. Pinkel says they'll figure out substitution pattern Thursday.

Hopefully he's the Tyler Hunt of LB's, he looks like he struggled to keep up every time I saw him on the field though.

"We do what we do."

it's more than a motto, it's a lifestyle.

you can follow on the netter tubes too ya know,, it's allowed.

One other thing I noticed this week, Logan actually playing, real plays on defense, in the game, and making plays.

That's a good sign, since he's really our 4th and near last interior DL.

So some of the guys were up in arms because GP closed Tuesday's practice to the media. Not sure why the change unless change is coming and GP is trying to keep it close to the vest. Just my hopeful thinking I'm sure

It's funny that the media guys were so distressed over it. They aren't allowed to report on anything that they see in the open portion of practice anyways b

I found it really entertaining. Some of those media guys get on a high horse sometimes.

If I were a coach, I'd never let any media people into practice (except the Mizzou Network people and students). Just seems like a no-brainer to me.

maybe hiding stretching line order changes? hard to see how it would show up to the reporters if they don't see the actual unit practices.

Hopefully Lock is going to start and they don't want USC to prepare for him and not Mauk.

Yes, we can dream...but we must understand that it's only a dream. Reality will be far more underwhelming.
