It’s hard to compare a defensive coach to another with the type of a offense that Texas Tech runs. The teams they play will have a lot more offensive touches and more offensive shootouts.

Big 12 is a tough conference to be a defensive coach in.

Gibbs should help with recruiting. In Texas because he has coached in Texas and nationally because the time he spent in the NFL.

It is a hire that should only help. He is a coach that can be moved around

S&P+ tries to do that. Tech ranked 87th last season in defense, but ranked 17th in DB Havoc Rate. Which means that his secondary made a lot of plays in the passing game.
