It is an interesting take. Matter says one reason to go in house might be so they dont have to make room to bring in a QB coach. Chaney is very successful in working with the o-line which could be a plus considering we have Boehm coming back as a true sophomore and have several freshman coming in. Good article and worth the read.

another reason to hire Chaney. We are now in the SEC and OL play needs to be at a premium. It does not surprise me at all that an OC who's specialty is the OL was successful for a couple of years in a row.
GP do not have this attitude that our way is the right way and I will show you. The SEC SHOWED us this year that we need to pick up the OL play.
Hire Chaney if he has any interest in Missouri.

what i think it really showed us was that you can't get decimated by injuries and only have 1 player play every game

Sources say Mizzou has contacted Chaney and he is interested. Mizzou is willing to put up the cash for him.
I think it's either going to be Hill or Chaney. My gut tell's me Chaney. I think thats why it's taking awhile before they make a hire. Some say it's going to happen around Christmas. But new info has it happening possibly sooner. Mizzou is waiting on Tenn. to get thier ducks in a row, whether they either retain him or let him go. He has another year on his contract.
Arky is also interested in Chaney. I think they have also contacted him but not sure of whether he would be interested in that job. He has some ties to Missouri. So there is alittle edge to Mizzou.

Tennessee isn't retaining him, he was let go along with most of the coaching staff yesterday. If he's the guy, go get him.

Spot on Semo. They just confirmed it on PM just a few minutes ago. They also said Mizzou has yet to offer him. So who knows.

Apparently it's between us and NC State, but you know how that goes.

We're a better program and school all around than NC State! BUT...if he feels like PInkel's seat is hot, it could be a factor.

I have heard that Mizzou is willing to put up alot of money for the right OC. Alot. Much more than they were paying Yost.
Never the less, I'll hold my enthusiasm all around. We also need a QB's coach and they are looking to fill that spot. It's been mentioned if they do hire Chaney, we might lose Henson but may move Hill to Head recruiter. But thats just rumors of what could happen if they hire Chaney.
I think in the end, I could live with Andy Hill as our OC if thats what transpires. But I think Chaney would be a good hire also.

Oh and for what it's worth and this may mean nothing but it seems we also looked and contacted aTm's OC also and a few others on the list.
This info alone if true tell's me they are aggressively looking outside the program for an OC. I still think Hill would have a good chance if they miss on Chaney.

I don't think Kingsbury is ready to make a move from aTm. He's been a coordinator for a short time, and if he's really ready to make a step, I think he takes a shot and steps over to Lubbock. Either way, I think it's a mistake.

Where is your info coming from? I'm glad to hear they are at least talking to people and looking for outside sources. I hope they talk to some good position coaches in the SEC, with QB experience too.
Posted on 12/8/12 at 7:10 pm to Mizzeaux
I was using that as an example that if they offered this guy at aTm, which would be stupid for him to jump, then Mizzou is serious about outside coaches being hired. That was the point of posting that. Not that we had even a chance to pull him away. That aint happenin.

There is also some rumor's that Mizzou has offered, but niether side won't come out an just say it. There seemed to be a small request and that was he wanted to bring his QB coach with him. Niether side wants an embarrassment if things don't work out.
I can't help but get the feeling it's just a matter of time and working out details now from the way I'm reading the info.
But take it for what it's worth. This could all turn out to be a big ruse or something. I'm holding in my enthusiasm about this. I'm just passing info along as I come across it.

Right now, we don't have room for another coach, unless someone else is leaving. But if we can make room for him, bringing the QB coach could be a good thing.
I wasn't impressed with how Tyler Bray was developed though. All the talent in the world, but not the focus or discipline. Not sure if that was coaching or if Bray is just that immature.
Hope you have good sources!

I just posted about this guy on the OC thread. We would have to get rid of someone, but according to the UT posters I read, they were more up on the QB coach than on Chaney. Said it would be an absolute mistake to not find room for him. They weren't as strong in their recommendations of Chaney. Said the guy has really strong ties in Florida, was a high school QB there, played at UCF and has the trust of the HS coaches there. Solid recruiter. If all of this is true, that is what we need. Find a way to get it done IMO.

Or, we could bring him in as a quality control guy or a "GA" for this year, which is how other schools get around the coaching limit.

All's kind of quiet right now.
In reguards to the assistant coaching position. There were two possibilities for who Chaney may have requested to bring with him if he would come. Either Hinshaw or Rolen. It appears there is talk that Hinshaw may be going to Kentucky as a wide recievers coach. So that would leave Rolen.
As far as the position being available to bring someone with Chaney, I think one of our coaches would have to leave. That being said, talk is, is that Henson may leave for another job somewhere else if he cannot move into the OC position here. He is wanting to move up to HC at some point. If Chaney were to take the job or get the job of OC, then the path may be set for Henson to leave as this may be a sign that Mizzou is not going to advance him. If this transpired, then there would be a spot open.
Then again who knows....Henson may be the guy. This is all speculation right now. All we can do is set back and speculate on the who's and where's until someone makes a move.
Semo, sources on the internet are 100% accurate maybe 50% of the time, maybe. Some of this stuff I've posted is just gut feeling on the posters part and is speculation at this point, Other than the contact between Mizzou and Chaney. I'm just passing it along.

chaney was only successful for one year in the SEC. His first two years were terrible.
