Ok so I have been off the grid because of a family funeral. What is going on. Do we have an OC yet?

No. And I can't believe with the impatience he expressed over the "process" of his hire (and his own relentless nature) that he would dilly-dally with the process of making his staff hires.

I'm hoping he's locking them all up behind the scenes and the announcements are a formality.

The recruiting dead period starts tomorrow and lasts into January. Expect to start hearing some of the new staff early this week.

Obviously Huepel was in town this week, and has been rumored to be the man for a while at OC

I kind of expect Walters to be named DC, although I haven't seen anything to indicate that to be true.

Has Ford coached RBs before? I don't think he has in the last 15 years at least! That's an area where we need major improvement. Not sure how I feel about this...

Yeah. So, he hasn't coached offense at all in more than 15 years. And now he's going to work with our RBs, who need a LOT of help. On the surface, I don't like this. Someone talk me of the ledge...

The number 1 thing for position coaches to do is recruit. Ford is good at that.

Then maybe he can stick to recruiting, and leave the coaching to Heupel and the rest of the offensive assistants.

Nothing against him at all, but as Semo put it, he hasn't coached in over 15 years.

RB, probably more than any position imo, is a "you have it or you don't" spot.

Not to say they don't need coaching, but it's the least technique reliant position on the field.

Odom wanted to keep Ford to recruit, and he probably didn't feel the need for two DB coaches so RB would be a logical choice.

What we know so far

HC Barry Odom
OC Josh Heupel
DC
RB Cornell Ford (STL)
OL
WR Andy Hill (KC)
QB Josh Heupel
DL
LB
DB Ryan Walters (GA)
S&C

Anyone feel confident enough, to call Wilson at DL yet?

Any rumors for OL?

I'm going to go ahead and put Heupel's recruiting area in TX. That makes the most sense.

Odom & Walters also have recruited heavily in Texas.

Huepel is known as a good QB recruiter. But hasn't really recruited other positions heavily. That's according to a podcast I heard from the Oklahoma Rivals guy.

Hearing Demontie Cross, will be announced as DC today, as MIZZOU's new DC?

That would be a good hire. He's from St Louis and has good recruiting ties in TX. He's also another young coach who should bring in a lot of energy. I like it.

I also like a renewed focus in TX.

Story just came out on PM saying Cross is DC. Good pick up it sounds like, hopefully he's a good recruiter, don't know much about him honestly. Staff starting to come together.
