Are any SEC gunslinger recruiters being mentioned for the staff?
A handful of True Sons and XII refugees are fine, but we need a few headhunters and closers don't we?
Actually with a rookie HC, this is pretty much what I expected to see.

That's not the plan he presented.

And he hasn't even filled half the staff, and the guys he kept are the guys he should have kept. He's already cut ties with Henson and Ricker

It will be interesting to see how it shapes up in the coming days for sure. I'm hopeful we will see some exciting hires. With SEC roots and connections. That is a must.

I really expect them to go harder after Texas than the south. Arguably Mizzou's best players over the years have come from Missouri and Texas. The leftovers we've been recruiting from the south haven't impressed me.

And sports and politics will be inseparable. Especially when the team decides to use their platform to broadcast a political message. I expect that their inextricable linkage will be far less in the future for Mizzou.
I agree that the team could have handled it in a different manner. Yes you are correct they are inseparable, but I think we as board members can and should do our best to seperate it. Then again, in situations like recent events, makes it hard to not talk about it. I know in my opinion, I can only control what I do and say and should do a better job of that going forward.

Go ahead and make Josh Heupel our OC. I really hope this isn't a mistake.

Yeah, don't really like it but hopefully it works out.

Why? He put up points and developed QBs at OU. He made Trevor Knight look good for fricks sake.

They also fired him, and he didn't exactly set the world on fire at Utah St.

The guy has a lot of experience in a big time program.
I don't see an issue with the hire. Who would want to come to Mizzou to work for Barry Odom?

Actually a lot of coaches would. He is really well liked and respected in the coaching profession.

I want names.
Heupel was an OC for a top 10 program for multiple years and did well with grooming QBs, including several who really weren't that good.
He was a scapegoat in a down year at OU and made room for Lincoln Riley who just won the Broyles award for best assistant.
This is another Mizzou hire.
Why do people keep expecting Mizzou to make a huge splash? Odom is going to bring in people he knows and trusts, not the latest hot name.

This is probably the key.

Well...evidently Heupel would. I'm not even real sure what that is supposed to mean. Everything I've read has indicated Odom has a lot of respect within coaching circles.

Dave Matter ? @Dave_Matter
Reliable source says Josh Heupel to Missouri is NOT accurate. MU still considering candidates for the position.

It means that working for Barry Odom at Mizzou right now is not what you would call a "slam dunk" job. He has no experience, the Mizzou offense was one of the worst in the country, and it's in the SEC, a league with ridiculous defenses.
For an OC this is what you call a roll of the dice.

When Odom went to Memphis their defense had been just as bad as the Mizzou offense was this year. Fuente was a new first time coach. Memphis had been bad for a while.
Any OC that wants to leave his mark, and maybe be a HC. This is a great opportunity to show just how good you are as an OC. Even better that OC will have a top 10 defense to help in the adjustment.
