How can they build an entire MLB baseball stadium in one offseason in the middle of downtown St. Louis, which included demolishing the old stadium so the new one could go in its footprint.

Yet we're still looking at mostly dirt on that end of the field.

Why wasn't this started the day after the last home game?

I don't really care what about the reasons, I'm sure there are some, but those reasons should have been dealt with and made not-reasons long before they were reasons.

Well, frick me.

Still, though the remaining in work for that demolition and the rest of the ballpark is triple size (at least) of the SEZ.

Last home game was on 11/11/17.

I get it not being done, just don't understand how the season opens with a pile of dirt.

Gonna guess the reason is MONEY. More money means more manpower. Texas A&M was funded by a $450 million dollar bond and I'm sure Busch III had twice the budget.

There was ceremonial groundbreaking in Jan 2014 for Busch III, it opened April 2016.

That's where he's getting the 2 years.

my biggest issue(obvi there must be a reason) is why they didnt start right away. nothing was touched for a few months after the season ended. iirc the season ended in nov, and nothing was started until spring/summer

That A&M time-lapse is cool.

Man, watching them tear down that lower portion of the stands and move it closer (it appeared) gives me the big envies.

I feel like that's what we really should have done.

Now the hill and SEZ have been redone to fit the way both sidelines currently are - there's no going back now.

Didn't have the funds secured. Needed to secure a few more donations. It really wouldn't have made much of a difference anyway. It will be done next year.

Steel is going up now, by the end of the year you'll see the basic structure essentially finished.

I'd just prefer not look like JV dingle-turds for a season on TV.

There should be building of some kind in that area by now.

I know, but do you remember what arkys progress looked like mid season last year for them? Mid season their addition was about done on the outside. It looked cool seeing how it was going to look on tv. Ours is barley just steel beams. Cant tell how/what its going to look like.

They had about half of the steel structure up on Saturday. That usually goes pretty quickly. You might even see a bit of facade by the Georgia game

Lol...well I'm not sure what to tell you. Things have to be built. It cost money. It takes time.
