Matter's take

Some pretty impressive numbers for both Brothers and Harris.

Sounds like Williams may get the nod before Doherty.

KC Star article

Hitting concern at RB. The telling number?

Yeah I'd take UConn and the points. Has Mauk ever beaten anyone that bad? I think we'll win, but it's never pretty.

MU 2nd-half defense this year: 53 plays faced, 83 yards allowed (1.57 yards per), 50.9% of plays for 0 yards or loss, 2 TOs, 1 FG allowed.

Pretty good numbers there.

Morrisson article

Yeah, quotes are pretty telling about the offense, or lack of it. Well, the whole article really.

Pinkel on Corey Fatony: "He's pretty valuable. I don't know if I've ever seena freshman come out and punt like he's punted."

I really think he helped change the momentum of the game as well, changing field position and backing ASU up where the defense could pin their ears back.

That's crazy as shite.

Instead of playing the 205 lb 4* you play the 180lb 3*. Not to mention the 4* was ahead all camp and vastly more outperformed the 3* in every scrimmage.

SMH. Outthink themselves sometimes.

ETA: seems as if that is just Matter's speculation. I HIGHLY doubt he's correct.

I love the thought of trying Zanders as a RB...

Elite specialists are worth the scholarships, especially in a league where the W-L margin is so thin.

Question: I should know this, but has Fatony been handling the kick-offs? I noticed it wasn't Baggett, but never figured out who it was.

One more... I really don't know what they're saving Doherty for? Is his priority at Missouri to play baseball or football? If baseball is impacting this in some way it would be nice to know. The football team looks like they could really use him.

I don't see Zander's being an effective RB. He doesn't have that build. He's tall and skinny. We already have a tall and skinny RB that doesn't/can't play.

I believe Matter was referring to bringing in Zander's to run some wildcat type stuff. Could be wrong though.

Matter says Williams performed better in the scrimmages. I'm to lazy to look that up.

Fatony has been kicking off. The plan was for baggett to handle them, but his back injury changed that.

I realize Zanders build isn't a RB build. He's not the prototype at all. But he's a good running qb. Maybe they can get him in the game somehow. I hate having him never see the field.

I remember watching his film, he had some good moves. I realize it was HS, but I'd love to see what he could do.

I'd rather let the 4* bulk up to Sec size instead of wasting a year behind this OL

He's already as big or bigger than Hansbrough. He's gone after 3 years anyway. The only way you "waste" a year is by not playing him.

By all accounts, Walters outplayed Witter all last camp but Witter got the nod. Won't get into Josey only playing due to injury. Sometimes I just shake my head too. But GP and staff have earned some faith on my part.

With all the struggles at WR, I'd still like to see Zanders at WR. He'd help us a shite ton more there than running the occasional wildcat. I'm not a fan of the wildcat anyways. Seems to rarely work because you know what is coming.

Using Zanders as a receiver/runner would make a lot of sense IMO. Not a power runner, but with screens and short throws, then see what he can pick up.

Yeah, I just think this more of a case of Matter talking out of his arse on this one. I went back and looked at Morrisons snap counts for the scrimmages and according to him Doherty got more touches in every scrimmage, including more with the second team. In the last scrimmage he was also given second team snaps before Williams.
And finally, he had more yards, carries and TDs. More receptions as well.

No idea where he's coming up with this, but it doesn't appear to be accurate at all.

He might be talking about of his arse but I'd bet Walters had more snaps, touches, yards, carries, TD's and receptions and yet Witter played instead of Walters. Who knows.

The only thing I do know is what we got now ain't working and giving any/all of them a shot can't be worse.

Maybe Zanders can't catch?
