He never dropped the ball to his outlets vs a blitz, and chucked and ducked..bravery and stupidity many times go hand in hand. If you watched Franklin move the team and compare it to Berk you would be blind to prefer Berk..or just a dumbass.

This is a good point and says a lot about what experience really means and how that translates to working past 2nd read under pressure as well as checking down to exploit blitzes.

Im not going to be hard on Berkstresser. He has raw talent and could really blossom with some time. He will get a true baptism under fire the next couple of weeks. These experiences need to be put into the bank and used to pull form next year as he grows as a QB.

Hey I cannot totally blame Berk, for all I know it has not been drilled into him what to do in that situation, it was not like that fricking idiot Yost helped by calling a screen or draw to slow the Blitz down//our QB Coach, OC and resident Spicoli has zero and I mean ZERO credibility in my eyes

Here's my take.

Franklin was rushed back too soon from his rehab. (I actually have a source for this, and I'm pretty confident he needed a few more months of rehab before he tried to play.) And he's showing a lot of heart and love for Mizzou and this team. His big run tonight before he got hurt looked like Frank the Tank from last year. And he was moving the team - well. Despite our big-mouth OC apparently telling the chick on the sideline before the game that he was in a lot of pain, and some throws brought tears to his eyes. That says a lot about Franklin's toughness to me. He sprained his knee. That doesn't make him fragile, or a pussy. It makes him human. Football players get hurt.

Berk has a great arm, and raw talent. But he's a bit of a statue in the pocket. His lack of scrambling ability, combined with our patchwork OL, could be very dangerous for him. We can't run those slow-developing plays with him, he won't have enough time. Plays for him need to focus on getting rid of the ball quick - and that will require our receivers to turn on the jets on their routes. Berk could potentially develop into a good QB, but he's not there yet.

Franklin, even a banged up Franklin, gives us a better chance to win games than Berk right now. But, if Franklin is really in that much pain, he probably shouldn't be playing.

Which means, If Franklin is out for more than next week against Bama, we focus on Berk getting experience, maybe bring Mauk in for mop up duty, and look ahead to next year.

And, our coaches need to STOP commenting to the media about players injuries, medical status and pain levels. This only makes them more vulnerable when they get on the field. Thanks to the media shite-storm, every team we play will be targeting Franklin's shoulder. I mean, geez - I'm a chick, and I know this much!

Well, I wouldn't go that far!

But thank you! My daddy would be proud to hear you say that! (I was the youngest, and only girl, but he made sure I loved football!)

I could be wrong but I remember hearing something in the off season that Franklin's arm was stronger after surgery than before the injury.

I agree though, seems like Franklin needs a little more rehab to be back into the QB we know wholeheartedly from last year.

That could well be true - having it surgically strengthened could make it stronger and more stable in the long run. But I believe that typically, rehab from that surgery is 9-12 months. He was playing less than 6 months after surgery.

And welcome, new Mizzou poster!

Well, glad you're here, we need more Mizzou types. Now, if someone tells you go to introduce yourself on the OT? Ignore them, it's a trap.

I'm sticking with the Mizzou board for now.

I'm familiar with SEC fans since I live and work with many Southerners, but they aren't as cordial on SECRant as they are in real life.

Thanks Bogie, I thought it was appropriate. We may be charming Midwestern types but there's one thing certain, we hate KU.

No, they're not. But some will be very welcoming. You'll just learn to avoid the trolls.
