Sterk said he didn't like these and then he schedules one. yuck.

the perception will be determined by where we finish in conference.
We could try to schedule tOSU if you want but you will be the first one to shite your pants and start 5 threads about how we suck when we lose

Nobody said Ohio St, but keep up with the hyperbole.
It's not the only thing, but it's a thing. You keep scheduling Indiana, Purdue, BC and that is what you look like. Teams play schools of similar stature in the non con. We should be trying to raise ours. Again, there is just no upside to these games. How long was the Indiana game talked about?

I hear ya about no win situation but that's probably why the Ohio states of the world won't play us.

TCU isn't scheduling us for the same reason Jesus doesn't want to schedule Indiana. Probably Washington as well. There's no incentive for either side to schedule a Mizzou/Colorado game and I'm not sure what that game would provide that BC wouldn't.
Iowa and Nebraska would be great because of the regional rivalry potential. But beyond that, Iowa doesn't want to schedule us. They come into St. Louis and take whoever they want now. Not sure why they'd schedule us. And I don't see Nebraska doing a home and home with us, so it's probably a neutral site game and we've given up a home game.

TCU has played Arkansas and Minnesota as their last two non con matchups. Both in our relative tier.
Washington just played Rutgers. Below our tier.
Colorado would be an interesting matchup because of the old Big 8 ties.
Iowa would love to play us, I'm sure. They want to recruit Missouri. Not sure where you got take who they want out of St Louis though. That's not even close to accurate. If anything, their presence has been slipping.
Nebraska may want to play in KC, and while I'd rather have a home/home matchup, I'd do that to get a more interesting matchup for sure.
Point is, there are games out there to schedule. Arizona St and WVU are examples that we, ourselves, have done recently.

Iowa recruits very well in STL

Yep... see Adrian Clayborn

Clayborn was over a decade ago. They haven't gotten anybody of significance out of STL in a long time.
Last guy was Markel Smith 4-5 years ago, I believe. Middling 3* type that I think never even made it to campus.
Just looked at their roster and they have 1 2* from STL that had no other offers, 1 3* we didn't offer and wasn't in the states top 10 and 1 walk on.

Regardless, 2 of the last 3 (clayborn amd mcnutt) would have started easily for us. Especially AC.. o ya dont forget about 5 star Espinosa..

Well he's from IL and also a Iowa legacy that was never going anywhere other than Iowa.

Christian Kirksey says hello too. I don't know that they can just get whoever they want, but it's wrong to say they don't do a decent job of pulling decent talent out of STL. Oh, and we've taken a lot of so called middling 3*'s from all over the country. Ya never know how they turn out until you get there.

Kinda like a Jerod Alton I take it. Again, the point isn't that they get the top 10 each and every year, but I bet if I look back over the last 5-10 years, they've taken their fair share of talent out of STL, regardless of whether we offered them or not. That's not the point. The point is they recruit STL and they do a decent job of it.

It's went from "get who they want" to "recruit STL very well" to "decent job"
They recruit STL, they haven't had a whole lot of success doing it recently.
The original point was they wouldn't want to play us because they get whoever they want out of STL and (I assume?) if they lost to us that may hinder their efforts.
I contended that wasn't accurate, which it isn't, and if anything they may view a game in Missouri as a chance to revamp their efforts.
That's all. This thread has gotten way off topic.

I never said they get whoever they want. I just disagree with the statement that they get no one of significance out of STL or implying that they don't do a decent job recruiting the area.

i'd definitely be down for the Illini series again.
Lovie will have that program headed in the right way before long, they are already sneaking some of our targets.

you really don't?
they are a bottom feeder of the ACC.
Iowa - had a legit shot last year, going 12-2 (8-0) before a loss to Michigan St in the big10 champ game.
Nebraska - no comparison
TCU has looked good recently, maybe not this year as much
Colorado is maybe your best bet in this argument.
Washington is currently top 5 in college fball this year.
I give you this question..
What has BC done lately?
I could probably be thrown in the crowd of not playing too big of OOC games, but to say BC is as good as the above teams is a stretch.
