So, saw a post on tRant about facilities and it got me thinking. Anyone think The AD keeps BO this year as long as bowl game eligibility is reached?

My thoughts: BO is a place holder for now while the new SEZ is being built. Once it is finished, the chances of BO keeping his job goes down significantly.

Now, if BO overachieves this year and next, he’ll get to keep his job (say 9 wins in 2018-2019), but he’ll have a short leash.

The SEZ is supposed to be finished by the start of the 2019 season. Mizzou should “should” win 8-9 games this year. With the new facility, that should bump recruiting.

If BO wants to keep his job, he’s going to have to produce results this year and next in both wins and recruits. Otherwise, Mizzou becomes more attractive to good coaches who would love a brand new facility to entice recruits, and a new start to the Mizzou program a few seasons removed from the protests.

Sterk know the new SEZ will attract higher caliber coaches and recruits, and he’s done such a good job getting donations, a higher paid coach that can produce is probably the goal.

Note: this isn’t a bash Odom thread. I WANT BO to succeed here because I think he has staying power. If he can produce and have a stable coaching support staff around him, that’s very good for Mizzou football. I’m just not sure if it will happen.

"Fan" is short for "Fanatic" which means we're supposed to be a bunch of Mizzou "Homers." Shouldn't we be blowing smoke about how we will beat Bama at Bama and how we always seem to play UGA tough. Shouldn't we be bragging about Lock winning the Heisman, or how DLine Zou is back.

But noooo, another BO speculation thread. If BO gets fisted by Purdue again or only wins 1-2 SEC games, Sterk will handle business, but for now can't we just be delusional, sunshine pumping, Mizzou FANS who swear we are on the verge of a National C?hampionship.

There are many parallels between the 2007 pre season and this one. Instead of stepping on their dicks to start the season, the 2006 squad did it down the stretch losing 5 of their last 7 games. OU was the only decent squad during that stretch. After pissing the bowl game away by allowing 18 4th quarter points Pinkel was an idiot and the entire coaching staff was shite.

Then 2007 happened.

It's the most popular topic. I don't get it. We have a loaded offense. BO has mostly the guys he recruited on defense so it's reasonable to expect improvement there. We could be pretty damn good, but all people want to talk about is when we are going to fire our coach.

Fuel "hotseat rumors", don't show up for games and then complain incessantly about not recruiting well enough. Think.

Simply put, our fans suck. We never had a top 10 fanbase or anything, but we used to be collectively a lot better than we are now. I sincerely hope we have a great year and the bandwagon fills back up a bit.

BO is no placeholder. Goodness. He's our coach and he'll get fair opportunity to prove what he can do. It would be nice if he didn't have to add his own fanbase as yet another obstacle he has to overcome. I remember the beginning of the Pinkel era. I'm sure a lot of you do also. It was eerily similar. Firing coaches every two/three years is NOT how we will build a successful program.

Yes. And he probably should. Stability is worth something. If he really can’t do the job, it will become apparent in the end.

Look, I haven’t really been a BO basher or blind supporter. I want to see results like everyone else, and like everyone else, there is very little to go on.

I think (and hope) our D is going to be surprisingly good this year, and I wouldn’t be surprised at a 9-10 win season. I also would be very disappointed at anything less than 8.

My speculation on Odom’s job wasn’t coming from a place of wanting him gone. It’s questioning whether or not Sterk sees him as a long term solution or not.

Like I said, I WANT BO to succeed here. He’s the kind of coach that Mizzou can hold onto if he’s successful. A lot of other coaches could/would have success here, and be hired up by another school. BO stays here, because he loves it.

If you want some sunshine pumping:

1) I think we give Georgia fits this year. They are replacing a lot of their back 7, and no R. Smith. Our offense should be able to put up points, stretch the field, and run the ball. The D line should be exceptional on the interior, and our linebackers are very good. We get Georgia early enough in the season, and the expectation for Mizzou is low. This sets up for well for Mizzou. We’ve got them at home, and can quite possibly pull out a win.

2) Tenn and Florida have a ton to prove, and are Mizzou’s to lose. SC will be a tough road match, but we have a by week to prepare for them, and it’s a revenge game.

3) Purdue and Memphis aren’t the same teams as last year. frick Kentucky, win by 20. Vandy gonna vandy. Arkansas at home and not a big threat.

3) schedule sets up well for 9-10 wins this year. If the team fights tough in the close ones, we could have an excellent year.

BO will keep his job another year even if we don't make a bowl game this year. Assuming that doesn't mean 0-12.

LOL You are really funny! MIZZOU will make bowl game this year. Stop putting Barry Odom down. I am dead serious MIZZOU will be better than last year because offensive coordinator is an upgrade from Josh Heupel.

Heupel's objective was to put up as many numbers as possible and get a HC job. He did that, but it wasn't always about winning games to him.

I think Dooley is happy with the opportunity and comfortable as the OC. I also think he'll run something that doesn't completely disregard what we are trying to do on defense and in special teams. Hope we are better for it.

DD is somewhat of an unknown commodity. Hope he turns out to be both a good teacher and game day play caller. We’ll find out

Garrick McGee may have the title as an analyst, but he will play a big role in Lock's technical development. McGee spent 6 years on Petrino's staff. He was the QB coach or QB/OC from 2008-2011, when Arkansas finished 1st in the SEC in passing 3 times and 2nd once. From 2014-2015 he was the OC/QB coach at Louisville and helped recruit Lamar Jackson. Joining Smith's staff at Illinois wasn't a great move but I still think he knows his craft. He can certainly cover any technical gaps Dooley may have concerning the QB position, which was my biggest issue with Dooley when hired.

^ ^ I didn’t know any of this. Thanks for filling me in, and that gives me very warm fuzzies.

To be fair, I probably know less about football than most of the people posting here. Started at MU back in 2002, was a fan, but didn’t really get into football until about 2012.

Always appreciate your input navy

If BO doesn't win 8 minimum Sterk will take care of bidness. Unlike Alden, he seems quite capable
