Saw on the TV while at the gym.
The NCAA is planning on instituting a mandatory academic redshirt for all freshmen with a Core GPA below 2.3.
This probably doesn't affect Mizzou to much as we don't rely on a ton of freshmen.

Post that to the Rant asking which program would be affected the most.
That would make a 10-20 page shite show.

It was on ESPNs recruiting nation. I will look it up when I get home tonight.

We redshirt most anyway...so it won't really affect us too much...
But I'm curious how that will affect the ESPN 300 rankings. Knowing the kids will have to redshirt by the time they are seniors in HS

Basketball is the sport that this will really impact. You have to wonder how many of the one & done players this affects.

Anyone willing to bet me this is called racist?

This is BS cuz it hurts the teams. With the 3 and out in football a stud player only plays for 2 years now. So the school gets fewer years with impact recruits.

Not necessarily, if kids take care of academics in HS, it will have no impact.
Its really a reason to take care of academics early. Obviously it will hurt kids from poor, bad academic high schools.

right, most of the time that is true, this year if it would have affected TBJ being able to play it might have really hurt us, that is IF, I'm not saying it is the case he would have been affected.
one of the outcomes of instituting more restrictions will be more programs trying to cheat(more) get around them, etc..
Given the NCAA's seeming inability to deal with situations like the massive academic fraud in sports like at North Carolina, or the institutional coverup of corruption at Penn St., the addition of one more rule doesn't really make me believe something is actually getting fixed that is going to seriously impact college athletics.
