A friend called and his angst reminded me that there are some whose fandom borders on the pathological. He's a heavy booster of all Mizzou sports and the last week has him seriously depressed.

His rant: (In amazement, I actually had to write them down)

In basketball, both the men and women got their asses handed to them. Softball lost to AZ and UCLA. Baseball dropped 2 games. Tennis lost to Wichita St. Golf was middle of the pack (7th) in an invitational. The gymnasts lost to Kentucky...and at the SEC T&F championships, the women finished 9th and the men 13th.

(Who the hell follows all those??)

Trying not to laugh, I could only remind him that he had a good job, good health, and a family that loved him.

I'm not sure it helped.

There's gotta be a diagnosis for that.

The MPJ injury to start the season is probably the most heart breaking thing I’ve experienced as a Mizzou fan since the 2007 Big 12 championship game. What could have been.

More about the 2013 heart break for me.

I was at that SEC CCG. If Steck could have stopped just two fricking plays, we are in the Big Game and I think we wreck FSU, get the Natty, and finally earn respect as a program.

Yep all we had to do to win the natty was stop a couple of those run plays. Heartbreaking.

First round. Not at all heartbreaking. Depressing yes. Predictable? Yes. Embarrassing? Yes. But better teams than that Mizzou team have crumbled vs. lesser talent with a huge night from the stripe.
