6'7" 405 NG from DeSmet

Just a sophomore!!!! Gonna be a junior. Doesn't exactly look swift of foot, and might actually be too big if that's possible, but the highlights are from sophomore year and if the kid and make sure that 405 is "good" weight and work on his footwork a bit more and drive more than stand straight up, he would be interesting to watch clogging the middle on these run teams.

Marcel Spears, 2* ILB from Olathe who visited with Moore last Tuesday committed to Iowa State this morning. He supposedly had a Mizzou offer but I find that hard to believe anyone would choose ISU over Mizzou.

Unless he didn't think he'd get playin time, or if they wants to put him at another position. There could be legit reasons. But I'm not going to lose sleep over him.

Thanks for the info cougar, even if it is bad news. Keep reminding myself of two things. One, this is going to be a smaller class so we are probably about half full already. Two, I was one that thought we took too many commits too early last year. Gotta get off to a fast start this year. That game @SC can be huge in so many ways.

4* OT Madison Akamnonu from Bowie TX (same school as Hansbrough) has canceled his Mizzou visit and is no longer considering the Tigers. We seem to have become toxic sometime after April. That seems to line up with DGB being kicked off the team, so maybe that's being used to negatively recruit against us. Something is up, that's for sure.

If a player isn't interested in a team because that team kicked a drug addict woman beater off the team, thats probably a player I don't want on the team in the first place. In his (Madison Akamnonu) case it may have to do with the fact that we have taken several OLineman in the last few classes including a few 4* OT's who may hinder his fast lane to start.

Not saying I disagree with you, but DGB wasn't convicted and schools like OU will use that to say "look, you go to Mizzou and even get accused of something and they'll kick you out. Come here and we'll look after you." The kids don't follow this like we do and won't know the facts, so will the will believe the lies. I've read that other schools are negative recruiting Mizzou targets and I believe it, just too many misses over the last 3-4 months since that whole disaster.

Schools negatively recruit all the time. DGB had plenty of chances. Kicking him was the right decision. If we lose a kid over removing a problem, that's a kid we don't want. Would you rather DGB still be on the team and have the bad PR when he screws up again - which you know he will, he seemed to be escalating.

Big game bob negative-recruits with the best of them and we won't stop that. Just have to overcome it. And I think we will.

They would get negatively recruited either way. Like you suggest if DGB is let go. If he remains on the team, they would have negatively recruited that GP has no control over the program. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Even if DGB didn't have another incident. Bottom line, it certainly does seem like GP is being out-recruited the last several months. Beckner frankly holds the keys to the class for me.

ETA - Another thought. Could this be the "Sam" effect? Like it or not, not everyone is tolerant, especially testosterone filled teen agers.

To recruits Mizzou definitely is 'that' school where the gay guy went.

Isn't a good thing.

As proud as I am about the way GP and the entire team handled that situation, I'm afraid I agree with you. I know my views have changed a ton between coming out of high school and now. Suffice it to say, coming out of high school, I wasn't getting in no locker room with known gay guys. Maybe kids these days are more enlightened, but something tells me the more enlightened kids aren't always playing football.

Quote from Madison Akamnonu on why he eliminated Mizzou:

"The coaches, they were telling me the football side, coach
Bedenbaugh gave me a paper that had the facts of Oklahoma, Tech, and
Missouri, and it looked pretty good. Like OU, they were at the top of
everything - or top two, including academics," Akamnonu recalled.

"Missouri is out for me now, I was looking at the stats that
Oklahoma showed me, and I was kind of like 'hmmm' and me and my parents
and I were on our way home and we were talking about it and I said I'm
not really sure if I want to go to Missouri anymore. Then we all came to
the agreement."

Mizzou can't compete with OU on the recruiting trail, this is nothing new.

Answer Justin Britt. Question: Name me all of the OL that the Tigers have had drafted in the first two days of the modern day draft.

That is what kills us when it comes to OL recruits. San Francisco and Seattle, and maybe the Redskins play an offense similiar enough to Mizzou's. We do not send a lot of OL to the NFL because of our offense. That is the stat ALL the OL recruits get put in front of them by every college recruiter.

It should be illegal to lie to recruits like this. Holy shite. OU and academics? Good lord.
