Columbia Tribune maps where current players are from

Mizzou is a kind of melting pot school for athletes, it's a selling point, come here and play with teammates who don't sound just like the yokel living next door to you!

One more point about this info, it's been said you can't build a solid team from just Mo kids, well if you look at our lines now and in the recent past, they have been largely Mo kids. We have Boehm and Gatti as starters and add promising young guys, Fairchild, Pendleton, Rhodes, Abeln and Bauer. We just had one go in the 2nd round of the NFL draft.

On the other side we have Golden, Ray, Vincent, Logan and Harris, again look at the NFL for Aldon Smith and Big Shel, for recent players that aren't too shabby. Ask any old timer, it all starts in the trenches, maybe you can't build an entire team with just Mo kids but you can sure make a strong start.

After seeing that map, I actually took a look at the 2 deep to see where the contributors are coming from. If memory serves me right, 8 from Missouri and 7 from Texas based on the pre-spring depth chart. It's 9 if you include Vincent but I didn't include him because it says he's from kansas. No problem adding him if we can take credit for Beckner next year. Out of 23 starters (the extra WR spot), more than 1/3 are from MO. I think it's even more if you include the 2 deep.

Based on the pre-spring 2 deep:

LT: Texas--Kansas
LG: Missouri--Texas
C: Missouri--Texas
RG: Arkansas--Illinois
RT: North Dakota--Texas
QB: Ohio--Missouri
RB: Texas--Texas
TE: Florida--Missouri
WR: Missouri--Missouri
WR: Texas--Oklahoma
WR: Missouri--Missouri
WR: Texas--Texas

DE: Missouri--Texas
DE: Missouri--Missouri
DL: Iowa--Illinois
DL: Kansas--Pennsylvania
LB: Florida--Missouri
LB: Oklahoma--Missouri
LB: Missouri--Texas
CB: Texas--Texas
CB: Missouri--Missouri
S: Texas--Louisiana
S: Texas--Texas

16 from Texas and 16 from Missouri going through the 2 deep (46 players). Some of those numbers may very well change after camps. I suspect at least a couple of the incoming freshmen will crack the 2 deep.

Yea I include kids who come from just left or right of the state line as "Mo" kids. We've had big contributors in the past like Wolfert and Gachkar, and they might as well be considered "our" kids/players now. Notice I also included Rhodes and Fairchild.

I was a little surprised to see so many young recruits from Tx as I thought we had tapered off in the last couple of years, all those kids who just miss an offer from bevo and Aggie have been good for us.

Would be great to lock down East STL with Strong and Beckner this year. When you think about it Mizzou football has gone from the brink of disaster a few years ago to being in a really exciting place and recruits are figuring that out.

Yeah, Texas has been really good to us. I think you'll see the numbers taper off in time. Really, they've only hit Georgia/Florida hard the last year or two. I imagine some of those guys will actually transplant some of the kids in the 2 deep once they're given a chance this fall and certainly more so going into next year.

Don't we already have 2 or 3 Rock Bridge kids on the team right now?

With the attrition at WR, Ofodile's might realize what a great opportunity is right here under their nose. Play at home right away with HS teamates and an entire section of fans that know you or go to Oregon, wait a year or two or three to see the field, and have mom and dad their on a few occasions.

Play on a spread team that is stacked w/ blue chip QB's in the conference that is known as the NFL farm club system or one that is struggling to survive(hello wallflowers).

All that and you're wearing the uniform that your dad wore.

Add up the pro's and con's and the choice to be a True Son isn't that hard.

If he's not up on Mizzou yet, having it be the home school and seeing how the offense goes he will not be changing his mind.

If his top 3 don't include Mizzou, it would be changing his mind to include Mizzou as one of his top tier institutions.

Why the stupid questions?

His top 3 includes Mizzou. Or his top 5 or whatever he's down to. Multiple people have corrected his top 3 since that one tweet and they all included Mizzou. Still hearing a heavy OU lean, but Mizzou not out of the picture the best I can tell.

There appears to be confusion caused by Alex giving different answers to the same question. Teenagers are fickle. I bet we can get a page or two out of George Brown's recent top 5 not including Mizzou.

To change the subject, I thought we might have a shot with Flynn Nagel since we are looking for slot receivers. He committed to Duke though. We haven't offered yet, maybe we will and flip down the line. His GF will be a Mizzou cheerleader so maybe he takes some unofficials to MU this year. Or maybe he finds a new GF. Teenagers are fickle.
