Don't always trust the predictions of 247, because they have been wrong on about 4 players that were once heavy Mizzou leans according to them. Tight end Josh Moore from the state of Kansas was a heavy Zou lean and ended up at Kansas of all places. Moore was the only player whose name I remembered right off hand.

I don't trust those things when they're made this early. What does start to concern me is when there's all of a sudden a glut of flips within 24 hours of an announcement. That usually tells me word has leaked out. Even that can be wrong at times but it's more accurate than what someone is voting a year ahead of time.

I will say the Beckner situation is making me nervous. Let's hope that FSU's trophy case cancels out tOSU's trophy case and he chooses to stay closer to home to build our case.

The one thing that benefits mizzou for Beckner is that his family probably doesn't have a lot of money to travel and see him play so Columbia is looking very appealing.

That won't be an issue at all... Schools will make sure the parents will be in the stands one way or another... I'm thinking/hoping past relationships with our staff keeps Beckner home.
It's the only true leverage I believe we have. Because he can get to the NFL from anywhere, he is already on teams radar because of his national profile. Our mizzoumade mantra I feel should work best on 3 to low 4 star products who need that development for future success.

Relationships with the staff.
Coach Kul.
Team mates on the team or coming.
Proximity.
SEC.
Winning, maybe not on the NC level, but winning the east is pretty damn solid.
Character and integrity of the program.
Oh, and it'd be nice if that weekend certain guys could make it in. Line up:
Sheldon Richardson
Aldon Smith
Justin Smith
Ziggy Hood
Kony Ealy
Jacquies Smith
Shane Ray
Markus Golden
Sam Madison
I'm sure I'm missing some.

Great points... This is one player I feel like we need to get over a big recruiting hump. Having Beckner Jr. make his announcement on ESPN putting on that black and gold hat while "Experts" talk about his decision and him listing off the reasons he came can resonate more than any other recruiting tool for 2016.

Rank: No. 40 overall, No. 5 Defensive Tackle
Recruiting Wrap: Beckner took his first official visit in November to Florida State. It was only the second campus visit of his entire recruitment and definitely opened his eyes. Missouri remains the team to beat, but the margin is much narrower than it was in the fall. An official visit to Auburn is scheduled for this upcoming weekend with Ohio State and Missouri scheduled for Jan. 23 and Jan. 30, respectively. Buckeyes' defensive coordinator Chris Ash probably has the strongest relationship with Beckner in a recruitment where relationships are paramount.
Favorite: Missouri
Dark Horse: Ohio State

No doubt. Would love to see it. Just a few weeks away at this point. Part of me wishes these guys would commit earlier to help their own cause in attracting more recruits.

Hey Mizzou fans, want to know where five star recruit Terry Beckner Jr is leaning? Tune in at 10:45 to hear from his head coach #mizzou
Perfect opportunity right here. At 10:30, have Coach Kul on talking about all of his successes. Lead right into TBJ's coach coming on. Instead, Frank is probably gonna talk about tOSU and how their NC and Elliott might impact the decision.
Anyways, if you're in STL, thought I'd pass it along. 920 a.m. I think.

East St. Louis head coach Darren Sunkett believes that Mizzou is definitely the front runner for Terry Beckner
Yep, its over. We won.

Cusumano interview with ESL HC Sunkett:
TBJ: Auburn, OSU and Mizzou visits. Mizzou sitting in driver's seat right now. 1st to offer. Definitely the front runner. Doing everything they should to land him. What else is MU doing well? Went up there as a team. TBJ made 3-4 unofficials. MU up and coming. One of the top teams in the east. Competing every year. Playing at the next level is important. Being known as DLinemen U helps. MU has a lot of guys drafted in the 1st and 2nd rounds. MU has track record of producing and developing dlinemen. Add all of that up and talk about a team ranked nationally year in and year out. Can stay home where parents and friends can see you play or go 18 hours away.
Asked about OSU's momentum and Zeke. Urban hasn't been there(side note: Urban recruited Zeke personally and made personal visits himself). Has spoken to Urban on the phone. DC Ash has been to ESL a few times. Right in the mix also. Close proximity. 6 hours away.
Coaches have got to do a selling job to land him in the next few weeks.
TBJ doing a lot of running. Weights. Slimmed a bit at 290. Wants to play as true freshmen. Preparing his body and preparing mentally.
Nate Strong - Nate graduated early. At Hinds Community College in Mississippi already. Taking courses so he can enroll at MU in another year or so. Special kid. Size and speed. Different than MU backs in past. Bigger back. Didn't qualify academically. So got an early start. Increases chances to be eligible next year for MU. (Side note: They were unclear if next year means 2015 or 2016.)
Greg Taylor is heading to Mizzou still too. Great athlete. Could be a RB as well. 2000 yards in 6 games.
Jeff Thomas - Best WR ever coached. Offers from everyone. Special player. Has to stay humble and keep working. Reminds him there are 20 kids like him in small parts of FL or TX and gotta keep working. Avoid complacency. Nash was only other player to play for him as a FR. Made all state as a corner, not WR.

Got Taylor & Strong backwards

I do trust them when they switch their balls at the last moment which is what I said. they cant be getting those right just on a whim.

Actually lots of good info in the interview and props to Cusumano for doing somewhat of a sales job for Mizzou. Even the way that he approached tOSU and what not was almost in a way to minimize the impact of a NC.
Mizzou being in the driver's seat is always good to hear. Really sounds like the staff has done a great job of creating a solid relationship with Sunkett and staff. Just the tone he used talking about Mizzou was encouraging. I think it could be HUGE that Urban has not gone there.
Wasn't expecting the info on the other players.
Not much new about Jeff Thomas or Greg Taylor, other than reconfirming that Taylor still plans on coming.
As for Strong...guess it's official about his qualifying issues. Someone out there smarter than me, help me out. By enrolling this semester, is it possible that he could be at Mizzou in 2015? I don't think so.
SC did the same thing with Dante Sawyer who we went after. He didn't qualify. Enrolled in spring in JUCO. Spent that spring and then one year there and is at SC this coming up year. Avoids 2 lost seasons at JUCO and allows the kid to graduate JUCO in 1 1/2 years and in Strong's case, be here for 2016. Don't know if that makes sense. Any help????

No I didn't. He said Taylor, while looked at as a DB, is such a great athlete that he could play RB at MU as well and went on to list his stats.
He definitely said Strong had enough credits to graduate early from ESL and has already enrolled at Hinds Community College.
Posted on 1/14/15 at 11:30 am to reedus23
Yea you did. Taylor is at Hinds right now, not strong.

If I'm wrong then Sunkett is either wrong or misspoke. He said they are BOTH down there.
I don't know if you listened to the interview or not but the talk started about Strong. They knew he wasn't going to qualify. So instead of waiting until fall, he graduated a semester early from ESL and has already enrolled at Hinds. That led into...and of course Greg Taylor is already down there and that led Sunkett to talk about Taylor as a RB or DB.
