Ignore facts all you want, it won't prevent them from being facts. The other 3 schools in the playoffs are all elite recruiters and Oregon, the exception, has been as close to that level of recruiting without actually being there, as you can get. Cherry picking events like winning back to back divisions and then ignoring that you got clobbered in those games doesn't amount to anything either, the rankings don't "look silly" because they continue to hold out being accurate. You however do look silly.

If they beat Oregon, we may be in serious trouble. He will be there in the midst of a lot of celebrating. And like you said, a STL kid leading the way.

Jagd, I'm with ya on the rankings. I don't think that GP hangs his hat on them or relies on them, but I do think his own system comes up with results very similar to those of the services.

There is not a team yet to win a national championship that didn't have top 10 classes the years leading up to winning the championship. I think that's more than a coincidence.

Having said that, where one loses me in the discussion is talking about divisional titles and so forth. I don't discard those as lightly and think that the classes GP brings in are obviously good enough to win those from time to time. And that's a big deal. Go ask UK or Vandy or hell, even UT at this point if they'd like to win the east.

We will never recruit with the likes of Bama, LSU, UGA, FSU etc... Partly because they'll get the top players and we won't and partly because of the bias in the system. But I do think we can get to the level of Oregon. I have played around with the class calculator to know...lock up your in state players, land your top targets in your surrounding states, snag a handful of quality, though not top of the food chain, recruits out of Texas, Florida, Georgia and elsewhere, and you'll be right around 20.

to be honest, he couldn't have gotten much worse as a "game coach", not much of a place to go but up. Yea 2 of the 3 trick play gambles paid off, now I'm curious though, do you think if they had failed we would have lost the game?

Based on how they wore Minny's arse out in the 4th quarter, like they did with everyone all year, I think they would have won even without the trick plays.

And while I don't agree that Pinkel had no place to go but up as a game coach, I do think his increased willingness to gamble is a good thing. There's nothing worse than seeing an Alabama come out gambling in a faux Auburn offense and Missouri being feckless to stop it.

I like fact that Pinkel seems to be growing as he's entering his 60's. Better late than never.

Oregon has Nikes name and money behind it. I don't see Mizzou getting to their level.

Nobody is ignoring facts besides maybe you. Stating facts is not "cherry picking". Those seasons happened as much as they seem to piss you off, they actually happened. I never said rankings are silly. I said GP makes them look silly, and he does and will continue to do so.

You want to ignore the inherent bias in the rankings. Tell me how Imathorbhebhe went from a borderline 2* to a borderline 4*. It's not an isolated incident. It happens all the time. The recruiting services pander to the larger fanbases.

There are several programs right on the cusp of being elite that don't reel in top 10 classes yearly. We are amongst them.

Again though, that's really not the point. You continually want to bash GP for not being a good recruiter, but continually ignore the factors working against us on the recruiting trail. It's nonsense man. You have such a disdain for Pinkel that you're blinded to the real issues.

Won't even post the one about the twins not visiting Mizzou. Figured we know that ship has sailed. Or we sank it and said enough with the games.

The Davis mom must be getting a kick back or something, I've never seen someone push their kids this hard towards a crap school who just fired their coach for a no name new one, all because her brother played their 20 years ago? It doesn't make sense.

It is pretty bizarre but I guess everyone is different. I actually kind of feel bad for the kids. I know I had wished Booker's dad would have swayed Devin to Mizzou. But looking back at it now, and seeing this situation with the twins, and how special UK basketball is this year, yeah, I'm kinda glad his dad let him do his own thing as much as I wanted him here.

I'm most concerned with tOSU regarding Beckner.

He'll be going there amidst national championship hoopla.

A StL native is perhaps their best player.

Legit reason for us to worry.

Jalen Julis will no longer visit Mizzou and is not considering us anymore. Will visit Notre Dame instead.

Illinois thinks they have the best shot at flipping Nate Howard. LINK

Pure speculation on my part, but when the Davis Twins looked like a real possibility, Nate Howard stated he wasn't considering Mizzou. Then the twins cancel their OV, Howard schedules his OV and says Missouri is in the running.

Seems to me, that Howard has moved up on the coaches list, but isn't at the trigger level yet. I'll bet he's ours for the taking, but we're still seeking other candidates.

If this were Butch Jones, he'd take'm and process him and the other candidates, let the depth chart sort it out.

Just as Mizzou wants kids who WANT to come to Mizzou, if I'm a kid, I think there's something to be said about going to a school that WANTS you, not one that is telling you to hang on, even if it is a better team.

Illinois might offer earlier playing time, but that's about the only reason I could think of for anyone to go there for football. Their team sucks and their environment is cheesy.

I'm not sure about the wait on Howard if it is, in fact, coming from the Mizzou side. You know you're going to have to get some additional numbers on top of Beckner. The only other name off the top of my head is Tyrell Jacobs. So you take Beckner, Jacobs and Howard.

I'm not so sure the delays is due to Mizzou telling him to hold tight at this point.

When it comes to big pocket boosters for university athletics, what happened to Mizzou's money bags in Kroenke and B. Laurie? Does anybody know if they are still financially supporting Mizzou?

Big dollars helps recruiting and upgrading your facilities.
