I think we take 3 more

Bauer,Cheadle,Fairchild,Lee, and Dennis all plan on enrolling early bringing our actual class down from 26 to 21 meaning we could take 4 more. Couple that with the fact that Lil DGB plans to reclassify or take a grey shirt then we could take at least 5 more.

Frank Cusamano just said today 29

Cusumano also said Wingo still wants to take official visits and Mizzou told him they won't hold his offer indefinitely - aka they're ready to move on.

Cusumano also dropped the comment that Missouri is now in a position to pick and choose. Or something similar.

Not sure if they're serious or just trying to ratchet up the heat on him, But IF - big IF - Wingo is a super special player with his 4.31 speed, I don't like the idea of Mizzou handing down ultimatums and acting as if they've arrived. It was only two months ago things were swinging the other way.

All that said, I'll trust Pinkel & Co. know what they're doing...

At this point I don't even really want Wingo.

His brother's recruitment was a pain in the arse, and it seems to be the same with Raymond.

We have good young DB's in the program, good DB's already committed, and good ones that want to commit or have serious interest.

Raymond should know by now if he wants to go to Mizzou. The family has been through the recruiting process twice, he's been to many games.. I'm fine with the ultimatums. I'm kinda tired of his family in general.

25 is the limit of scholarships per year. However the total head count restriction is 85.

Taking 5 more will force us to pull scholarships from those on roster.

Early enrolles count towards the previous years class. So the five mentioned above will actually be considered scholarship players in the class of 2013 in which we only had 16 scholarship players. Lil DGB will probably go against 2015

I think his point is the 85 total number. The question would be how many are currently on scholarship and how many are going off of scholarship next year because of graduating or otherwise.

I understand your point, but I'm gonna have to disagree. At this point in the process, kids should have a pretty clear picture of where they stand and what schools they like. I don't want to hold places open indefinitely for kids, and potentially pass on some very good players, then be left hanging when he decides to go to Arkansas or somewhere else. Mizzou doesn't deserve to be treated as someone's backup plan when there are other, highly talented recruits who would like that spot.

I'd love to have Wingo in this class. But how long do we sit around and wait for him before we say thanks, it's time to move on? That's recruitment - the spot isn't open indefinitely, there's a time limit, then we move on to another recruit who wants to play at Mizzou. If they decide later they still want that offer? Maybe it's there, maybe it's not, that's the risk they run. We're a good enough program to command that basic level of respect.

Exactly. I'm not saying we should be demanding about it, I know it's a big decision, probably the biggest one any of these kids have made to this point in their lives. But at some point, we have to look to our best interests as well. Decisions must be made, or we'll have to make it for them with regard to Mizzou. Offers can't be held indefinitely, not when there are too many talented players that want to play here and we have limited spots.

Exactly. Early enrollees don't count for 2014 limit of 25. But all signed and all on scholarship count toward the grand total of 85 football scholarships allowed by NCAA for FBS schools.

Saban has been known to tell commits just days before NSD, "oops" we offered too many, you're out.

Or the alternative is to convince kids on scholarship to move on. The "Jesus" talk. This does happen. I don't think GP is a big fan of doing this. A certain amount of goodwill is burned up.

Yes very big commitment on where to play and its there right to go to the best school for them but dont hold a school hostage waiting on you either.

Somebody head over to BWW in Creve Coeur and ask Coach Ford what the number is.

St. Louis QB Club is meeting right now. I can't make it.

Yeah, the old "process." I would hate to do this to any kid. But on the other hand...if they end up not being good fits in the program, is it better to keep them around for 4 years on the practice squad, never seeing the field during games (or at least not much), or helping them find a place in another program where they will get playing time, and maybe start?

It sucks for the kid, and for any program to come to that realization. From what I understand, at some programs kids are given a choice - stay here, you'll be a member of the team but not play, or we can help you go somewhere you'll get good playing time. Then let the kid make that call. Sucks all the way around.

I don't see an issue here. Tell the kid you're going to continue to recruit him/convince him to commit but until he does, you're going to do the same with others and it's simply first come first serve. If one of the others commit first, his is withdrawn. I don't see the big deal. You're not currently yanking the offer but you're letting him know you're not waiting around either.

Ha ha! What a position to be in. Wasn't it a few months ago, we were not sure we'd even have a head coach after this year. Now that Mizzou has somewhat proven they can compete in this conference, kids are comming out wanting to visit. I agree, no spot is safe. If you want it, better get it. Markel found out the hard way. But as always, your dealing with kids and nothing is set in stone until it's signed on the line.

With Florida State already at 25 commits, won't they be running out of room soon if roderick johnson keeps waiting to commit somewhere?

I don't know but so far they've only taken 1 OG, 1 OT and 1 OC. All 3 stars.
