Oh, for God's sake! Get your mind out of the gutter! Right now, our class has 1 DL, and he's a DE; and we're losing at least 2 this year. If we don't fill that hole, we're in a world of hurt.

Semo is the dirtiest poster on this board. Unreal.

Offered Nile Sykes tonight.

Ish Witter, RB from Tampa, FL, committed to Mizzou tonight. Welcome, Ish!
Ish Witter
On the other hand, this makes me think we aren't likely to get Markel Smith.

Wow. Welcome to the Zou Ish.
Haven't watched any tape on him, but I'm with you semo and I've watched 2 of Markel's games this year and the guy is a monster.

Ask and you shall receive Reedus, here are some highlights of Ish Witter that was I able to find.
He reminds me of Marcus Murphy. He is a fast but agile athlete. (Based on the competition on the tape) He is fast enough to run by people, shifty enough to elude defenders and he also has hands out the backfield. I could see him returning kicks or punts.
Rivals compares him to Cal RB commit Vic Enwere from TX. Vic had a ton of offers, Mizzou included, so we'll see what Ish can do. Welcome to the family Ish!

It's just baffling to me. If there is one area people have said we are thin at this year, it's on the Dline. I know Pinkel likes the group that came in this year, but liking them doesn't mean there's depth yet. Just don't get it. A few spots remain I imagine. Hopefully they'll fill them with some big boys on the line.

I'm also troubled by having only one d-lineman.
Here is a quick list of DEs/DTs who have Mizzou offers according to 247Sports and ESPN (Rivals is a little more difficult to look up). I'm only going to include notable uncommitted players that have Mizzou still in the running and that I've heard about, so this way we have an basic idea of who to watch out for.
Note: I will use the Rivals rankings because this board seems to like those the most.
DEs
----
Dwayne Hendrix (I'm sure this is news to everyone... )
Renell Wren 3* (borderline 4*) from St. Louis, MO
Justin Hollins 3* from Texas
Johnathon Williams NR MI (Visting Mizzou this weekend per @btaustin)
Derek Barnett 3* TN
Daniel Wise 3* TX
DTs
-----
Calvin Heurtelou 6'3 305 JUCO
DJ Williams TX 3*
Rika Levi CA 3* (CA? What?)
So thats 9 d-line targets that I could find based on the information available to me. Of course, I'm not accounting for under-the-radar-Mizzou-specialties or commits that flip from other schools.
I think we get 1 maybe 2 from this list with an outside chance for 3.
But that's where Mizzou currently stands at the moment as far as the d-line prospects are concerned.

I don't know if this has been talked about yet, but we have two potential defensive lineman already signed. Sam Baily is listed as an OT from Lamar, but according to his recruiting profile he has played defensive line as well. Maybe we recruited him to play defensive line. We also have Rocel McWilliams already committed.
"Bailey is productive as a defensive end and tight end; we see a developmental size prospect with the height, strength and athleticism for the offensive tackle position at the BCS level of competition. His frame appears capable of supporting additional body mass over time; shows the upper body hand strength needed to control and maneuver defenders once contact is established; his flexibility, balance and agility allow him to play on his feet while adjusting to quickness within tight spaces."
Although Bailey is productive as a defensive end playing the run at the point of attack and rushing the passer, his growth potential along with athleticism and toughness indicate more opportunities as an offensive tackle at the BCS level of competition; some time along with a red shirt year will be needed to grow physically while acquiring the run/pass blocking skills needed to challenge for future playing time."
Rocel McWilliams
Defensive end with solid height and good bulk at this stage and looks to have a frame that can still support some more good mass with time in a college weight program. Displays a good initial burst off the ball. Displays good lateral agility and tight box change-of-direction though bit more sectional in space.
Versus the Run
Can fire out low flashing the ability to quickly extend and shed when he brings his hands but overall usage must improve as he doesn't consistently shoot them off the ball. Flashes solid recognition of blocking angles and can quickly squeeze.
Pass Rush Skills
Needs to develop the use of his weapons and have a plan as he can create pressure with effort and strength at this stage, but needs to further develop a pass rush arsenal. Not a speed rush presence, but has some upside in this area and could with development be effective sliding inside as a nickel rusher in passing situations.
Toughness/Motor
Good motor and displays a physical nature that can be enhanced with improved and consistent technique. Displays solid range for size and can be a physical tackler with the hand strength to drag down and finish when he gets cloth.
Bottom Line
McWilliams is a prospect with some good raw tools. We don't see an immediate contributor -- he could greatly benefit from a redshirt year to further develop his game -- but he displays some upside to grow into a good productive college defender.

Apparently Thomas Richard has a little brother in the 2016 class who plays WR and is already as big and faster than he is getting tons of interest. Could be why Mizzou pushed for Thomas so hard.

DEFENSIVE TACKLE Calvin Heurtelou made his official visit today. 3* JUCO DT.

YES and PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
My guy and I were just talking about this at dinner tonight. It's his opinion that DTs are the hardest position to recruit out of high school, and that our coaches are making a mistake to not take at least 4 in every class. Preaching to the choir.

Problem as I see it is to get to that number now, about 75% of your commits have to be DLine. Personally, I think GP fell asleep at the wheel last year. Had all the distractions we talked about. Had the losing record. Next thing you know, we had an extremely small class. I think this year, in response, they've gone to the opposite extreme to avoid getting burned with a small class again and have almost filled up the spots too fast. There's barely room now to even try to flip guys on top of getting the DLine we need.
