I think Markel puts another 15Lbs minimum during his Freshman year at Missouri. 220lbs is a good size back in the SEC.

I still believe Abbington becomes a WR or a LB. I have no idea why but I just do not believe this coaching staff plays him at RB. They will give him a chance at it but switch him. Again I have no idea why

Not going to happen. USC evaluated Abbington and he came in at 89 on their system. Anything above 85 is considered high level SEC player deserving immediate scholarship offer if I remember right. Both USC and LSU wanted Abbington as a RB. Neither officially offered due to Abbington being a lock for Mizzou.

For what it is worth, I think they graded EE out at like a 78 and had no interest.

Don't want him. He's waffled on every commitment he's made. I'm also happy with our stable of QB's and think one will rise out of this group to be solid.

I figure Kiel will get that at a lot of places he tries to go. I'm curious to see if anyone at a power conference will even be interested in him now.

Edit: I just saw an update on potential landing spots for him.

IrishIllustrated.com on Thursday reported four potential transfer destinations for Kiel: Ball State, Miami (Ohio), Northern Illinois and Cincinnati.

I'm sure he'll get a chance somewhere, but it might be at the equivalent of kU or something.

Can't remember if it was here or on Tigerboard but I know an SC poster had passed along that info too.

I don't want him, happy with what we have, and don't want a guy who will be sitting around a year waiting to get a chance.

That said, people have been way too hard on him for transferring. What Les Miles did to him was totally uncalled for; publicly ridiculing the kid was pretty much insane. And now he got stuck behind a very good QB at ND. Most guys with his ceiling would transfer out of that situation.

I remember that post, it was on Tigerboard by a South Carolina fan. Surprisingly, I found it pretty fast:
quote:

but the RB y'all got graded out a lot higher down here than the one you missed. On the USC (South Carolina) scouting report, Abbington was rated at 8.85 out of 10. USC had looked at him but he was a hard MO commit. Elliott graded at 6.20. His running style wasn't physical enough. Grading is 1-10 for running backs. Speed, quickness, power, explosiveness, vision and physicality. They figure you need to be at least a 7 to make a contribution in the SEC (they grade opponents recruits too) and an 8.5 to start. Example, Marcus Lattimore graded an 9.1. Your new guy isn't too far off. You may have just caught a break even though the kid was a home stater. Just trying to input some prospective. Good luck to both kids. I think I know who got the deal here. Not Urban.

We should take Gunner Kiel in a heartbeat. He has a lot of potential. Then, if he wins the starting job, great. If not, so be it.

Could trigger a transfer from one of Mauk/Printz/Hosick.

Would probably upset our first high end Georgia recruit, need to keep that pipeline moving.

Will he eventually be as sought after or more than Bauer? Just don't think we get both but have to get at least one of the two.

I'd take him over Bauer. We really need both I'd be ok with just one.

So far the only positive thing I see jump off the page with Henson as OC is that he is an O Line coach from LSU. He knows you have to put your hand on the ground and push forward with your O Lineman in the SEC.

If he can convince the 3 big OL prospects in the state that is what Missouri will be doing then I think we have a chance to get them and in a few years have a SEC pro style offense

I think there are only 2 big OL prospects in MO.

I think Wallace out of CBC also has offers from some Big 12 and Big 10 schools. Just not the national attention that Bauer and Johnson are getting.
