When was our last Hickman recruit? Leftwich? Or was he from Rock Bridge?
Posted on 3/2/13 at 10:43 pm to URHatinIt
I think Leftwich is correct

I bet he receives some impermissible benefits.

I wonder what NCAA rules apply when it is your son on your football team.
Is coach Jones a coach first or parent first in the eyes of the NCAA?

So everyones concensious is that Grant Jones is just here cause of coach jones? Idk anything about him ? But seems to be a TE eeven though he is recruited as a ATH
To clarify I am not saying hes not a good player i just didnt know if it was a sympathy offer since his dad is a coach or what

So far we have a coaches son and a 5star recruits brother on this big weekend. Could be worse those two could have decided to play elsewhere and just might do that

We usually don't hear results from the weekend until Sunday night or early in the week after the recruits talk to their parents and high school coaches. Corby Jones was a coaches kid that worked out pretty well.

So for energy and positive mojo flowing from junior day, Mizzou gets what? D+? C-? I keep waiting for this staff to get something done that creates a positive vibe about the football program but it just doesn't happen.

Just read alittle on Darnell Green-Beckham. It's looking like he may turn into a 2015 recruit because of missing some school as a result of taking treatments for his illness.
It appears he was being recruited by Oklahoma and Arkansas also but decided to go with Mizzou. I don't know if the other two pulled thier offers but it mentioned Mizzous offer was still there and Darnell took it.
They make it sound like he's every bit as talented as his brother. So this could turn into a big time recruit. If all works out, they said he's 6-5 and should wind up at around 205 to 210 pounds when he puts his weight back on. He's going to be a reciever. Beckhams dad said they couldn't keep him off the field. He played the 2012 season while undergoing his treatments. This included practices also.
An thats how I'll look at this kid. After all he's been through, he's big time to me and it's just a matter of time for him.
As far as the coaches son, I don't have alot on him.

Just so I'm clear, I wasn't grading him or the other kid. I was talking about the buzz created around the program coming out of Junior Day as a whole.

I was hoping for more news from the weekend. Losing hope for a great outcome.

Well this was billed to be an Elite and Exclusive prospect Junior Day, but not one Elite prospect came. It is safe to say that I am pretty disappointed.

Come on, do we really need the 'sunshine pumper' to lighten you guys up??
After the season we just had, the rock bottom '13 class, and a new OC -- can't expect too much until things get going next season and we prove that we're on solid footing.
Guys want to see that we're not going to be bottom dwellers ever year. I fully expect a much better year next year, and I think most of you do too. It is going to take some W's to get this recruiting going. Don't be too down about this jr day.

I am not getting into this debate on here.
They already are bitching about me on PowerMizzou.
I am not trying to be a douche or anything, but I am trying to get a major positive to be excited about, but we just keep falling short. I think Henson will be good for us though, so we will see what happens.

Stripes, I'm probably with you. Looking for positive signs instead of just wait wait wait and then when the waiting is done, nothing has happened.
Mogray, I honestly don't know what to expect next year after this past season. I would like to think we'll have more W's but I honestly don't know. I don't know if we're good enough to win all our OOC games. I don't know if we're good enough to beat UT, UK or Vandy. I don't know if last year was an aberration and we actually knock off a UGA, UF or USC. Until they show me something, I have to go on the most recent results, thus the reason I'm looking/hoping for any positive news anywhere. Maybe spring practice will bring it.

Is there anything to be read into the fact that Roderick Johnson apparently took an unofficial to Illinois on Mizzou's Junior Day? Is his interest dropping?

This right here is exactly what is going through recruits heads. Team needs to come out and have a positive season for things to start rolling in the right direction with recruiting.
Which is why you and stripes should just relax on this and realize nothing major is going to happen until this team proves its on solid footing. That may or may not happen, I'm thinking we will show that we are at least better than last year.
