Missouri's recruiting efforts during its spring game got off to a quick start, as Lee's Summit West linebacker Nick Ramirez and Staley quarterback Trent Hosick committed to Missouri prior to the Black and Gold game.
Their inclusion in Missouri's 2013 recruiting class continues a strong start in-state. Missouri now has eight verbal commitments, with all eight players hailing from the Show-Me State. According to PowerMizzou.com's most recent Missouri Top-15, Missouri now has commitments from eight of the top 12 players in the state, including three of the top four in Ramirez, Chase Abbington and Hosick. The only in-state player to verbally commit to an out-of-state program is Ezekiel Elliott, the No. 2 in-state recruit. Elliott committed to Ohio State earlier this month.
Ramirez and Hosick both said they'll immediately turn their attention to adding recruits to the 2013 class.
"I think we're doing real well in-state for sure," Ramirez said, "but we need to start getting out-of-state guys. More playmakers, more guys to make defensive stops."
"We can go out and pick the best guys together," Hosick said, "and help lead Missouri to its first national championship."
Also attending Missouri's spring game were a handful of 2012 signees, including Evan Boehm and Morgan Steward. Boehm was a high school teammate of Ramirez and Steward was teammates with Hosick. Both Ramirez and Hosick said that while their teammates played a part in their recruitment, they weren't the overriding reason for today's commitments.
2013 commitments Harneet Gill, Aarion Penton and Abbington also attended Saturday's scrimmage.
NEXT DOMINO TO FALL? Ramirez's desire to land more out-of-state players may not have to wait long. Missouri City (TX) Elkins receiver J'Mon Moore made the trip north with kicker Nick Coffman, a 2012 preferred walk-on for the Tigers. The duo arrived in Columbia on Thursday and will stay until Sunday. Moore spoke with PowerMizzou.com during the game, and said the visit was going very well.
"I've been able to tour the campus and the weight rooms," Moore said. "I've been able to see the classrooms, pretty much the whole thing. I liked it. I've had a great time here."
Moore said what's stood out to him so far was the atmosphere surrounding the program.
"The atmosphere with the coaches and the program," Moore said. "That's what I like. What they have is what I want. It stood out to me."
Missouri also unveiled its new jerseys on Saturday, and Moore was impressed.
"I could see myself in those one day," Moore said.
GEORGIA TRIO MAKE THE TRIP: As first reported on PowerMizzou.com this week, Marietta (GA) Lassiter quarterback Eddie Printz and linebacker Josh Danforth made the trip west, as well as Jackson (GA) defensive tackle Jay Woods. Printz is currently a verbal commitment to UCLA, but has been taking other visits. Danforth is receiving interest from Missouri, but currently his only offer is from UCLA.
Woods, a 5.7 three-star, may be Missouri's top target at the defensive tackle position. He currently has offers from over 15 programs, including Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Nebraska and Michigan State. PowerMizzou.com will catch-up with all three players following their visit.
2012 SIGNEES RETURN TO COLUMBIA: Two months removed from National Signing Day, plenty of 2012 signees made the trip to Columbia. In addition to Boehm and Steward, Maty Mauk, Russell Hansbrough, Levi Copelin and Ka'Ra Stewart attended the game. Steward and Hansbrough met for the first time, and each has the chance to see playing time as true freshman. Mauk also met new commit Hosick after the game.

A quick story regarding the shirt Ramirez is wearing. Last week, Andy Bauer (2014-legit OL reqruit) committed by having the "FOREVER A TIGER" shirt on under his high school jacket. Took the jacket off in Pinkle's office to reveal the shirt. Appearently, Ramirez and Hosick took a page from the playbooks, wearing these shirts under a jacket and doing the reveal in tandem.

Christian Lacouture named a top 3 - LSU, Michigan, and Nebraksa. Guess we are out. Maybe this will open up the Dakota Brake offer.

Hopefully, I think all of us want Mizzou to offer him because we know he will commit on the spot.

We need more "Double Copter" days. It appears J'Mon will wait til the end of his senior season before making a decision.

That kinda kills our momentum

He might be worth the offer just because he would be relentless on the trail for us.
But I think he would be a good fit for us. This is his dream school so you know he will come in and work immediately.

J'Mon is kinda killing our buzz by waiting that long. I think our next "Double Copter" day should be Thompson and Boyd. Getting them on the front line would be sweet. I hope Dakota Brake gets his day by himself so he gets all the glory.

247 updated their Top 247 list. Ramirez is at 176 and Abbington is at 201. Jerel Morrow from Emporia, KS got added to the list at 209. Currently we are out of his top 3, but it would be nice to take the best player out of kansas.
ETA: the link to Top 247 list might have been nice to include...

Grant has gone and seen him a few times. He's going to be good for whoever lands him.
