He has been an important bat in the middle of this line up for a while now.

Martinez hitting 100, 100 pitches into the game.

Gem tonight.

Miss Holliday. Things are starting to hemorrhage. But really wish there was a legit basher somewhere out there that will be in a Cards uni within the next couple weeks.

Think we could use bullpen help too. A legit arm. Don't know if I trust Walden. And even then, think we're gonna need it

As much as I want a Hamel's or big starting arm, I'd rather find a bat for cheap, like Lind, and a solid bullpen arm.

I know he was dealing.

But kinda surprising to send the young guy out for a fresh inning at 100 pitches.

Imagine when he matures and learns to manage games a little.

Yikes.

We used to have a guy on our board, mograyback, that would probably disagree with you.

Everybody is sooo funny.

I just hope we can land a 'clutch' bat to go with Peralta and Molina ;)

Just saw a blurb about Rosie experiencing discomfort during a Monday throwing session.

The good news is he won't pitch tonight.

Hopes he's not hurt though. He's looked pretty crappy lately, but I had attributed it to overuse.

Threw close to 30 pitches back to back nights in Pitt. Don't like that.

I liked the point Boras made -- it has to be noted as an outing if he's getting up, even if he doesn't get in the game. I'm sure the Cards take note of this, but maybe they haven't put enough stock in it.

Glad to see he won't pitch tonight.

More than a starter, we need another back of the pen arm. Really wish Siegrest was getting some more action in the 9th, and someone else was reliable for the 8th.

I know we've been riding Maness, maybe it's his baby face, idk, but I don't trust him. I like that he can get a double play, but I want fire or nasty movement that causes swings and misses in my back-of-the-pen guys. Pitching to contact leaves things too much to chance in late innings.

The Maness novelty has worn off for me.

He came up, got some big DPs, and now that's expected every time.

If he doesn't get a DP, he almost always gives up a knock, and then most times MM leaves him in to flounder.

While. I think this has been MMs best managing job, he's over thinking it with the pen, and it's starting to show.

I don't believe that Walden will be back. So I think they need to bring up Tui, and trade for a guy. I'm almost sure that happens.

Siegrist is intriguing, but again, I think he's being over used. We need some fresh, non-matheny used arms for the second half.

I still think we could get Philly to let go of Howard cheap with them taking some of his salary, and make him a nice pick up in the second half. Never underestimate the power of being shipped into a playoff race. Plus, he rakes at Busch.

However, that's my second choice after Adam Lind. He will cost us Piscotty I believe, and I'm not ready to pull that trigger until I actually see Piscotty up here playing. He's an unknown to me, and I hate the idea of flipping unknown talent for a 31 year old that MIGHT help this season.

Let's all be honest here, this season has been a surprise, and given the injuries we've sustained, Pittsburgh is the better team going forward.

I expect Holliday back soon, but he will suck for 6 weeks, that's the nature of coming of an extended DL stint.

I'd hate to unload some youth if this team hits the downward spiral come August. Our two big arms are really, really young. It will be hard for them to continue at this pace. It's the nature of the grind.

We'll see how it all plays out I guess.

Problem is half of our pitching staff is on the DL

Waino
Garcia
Gonzalez
Belisle
Harris
Walden

That's a lot to replace. Pitching guys like Cooney, Lyons, Greenwood is only going to get you so far. Without Walden you have Siegrist being used in a way he shouldn't be(8th inning). Rosenthal has pitched too much because we've won too many 1-2 run games.

The Cards just need to get healthy.

This lineup

Carp
Wong
Holliday
Peralta
Heyward
Molina
Reynolds/1B Trade
Grichuk

is good enough to win the divison.

I'm with you on Walden. Think we got our karma for sending Craig to Boston. Walden's been moved a few time in his career, only 27. Velocity has been dropping steadily from year to year. His arm troubles shouldn't that surprising. Don't think he'll be back, and if he is, don't think he'll last.

Right now I like the idea of Piscotty at first, and saving whatever chip it would take to get Lind or Howard or whoever.

He had a slow start while adjusting to a new swing, been raking lately, and the power coming along.

He's got Matt Carpenter like maturity, both as a person and player. Stanford educated.

People say Taveras faltered in his call-up last year, but those are the kind of guys that have a hard time adjusting. They're too.. idk. Piscotty is more of a rock. I can see him coming up providing a good impact at 1st.

Just wish the experiment was started sooner. As it is now we'll have little time to determine how he does in the majors before the deadline.

Biggest wish for a deadline deal is a legit back of the pen arm.

For a team with such little star power, this team may play the best ball all around. I'm not saying there aren't good players on the team. There obviously is. But there is no Bonds. No Pujols. No Cabrera. No Stanton. No Harper. Just a collection of guys that...

it's coming.....

do it the Cardinal (aka right) way.
