2016 we have South Alabama, @La Tech(Struck you Ficklin) and Tulane on the schedule so far. Not pretty, but least they're be no FCS and La Tech a better non-AQ(Can we even differentiate that way now?) than most.

While I loved the trip to Houston I'm not eager to get in bed with someone who'll be in a conference championship race, especially with Dak being gone. I'd also hate to see us go down to the Kansas, Colorado and Purdues of the country. Personally I'd love to get some series/neutral site games going with some 'middle tier' competition. The Arizonas, Texax Techs, N.C. States etc. There are some real possibilities for building some recruiting roads too.

What do y'all think we end up doing?

I would love to play a team from Cali. UCLA, maybe even USC.

Give me Nebraska, Michigan state, Penn state, Miami, va techs of the world. Good programs that aren't great like they used to be.

Miami, Vtech, even Nebraska might be a good games but I'd rather stay the hell away from Michigan State and Penn State.

I'd assume we'll keep going after Big 12 schools. They've been our usual go to for big OOC games the last decade and a half.

I have a lot of respect for Bjork for seizing the opportunity in taking on Texas. Lots of national exposure and got to fight a team on it's downswing.

:thinks:

Or perhaps the arrangement was made seven years ago when no one knew the state of either program and my respect is misplaced

Freeze and Bjork absolutely could have opted out of playing them in 2012 given the state of our team but they chose not to. But it was a Boone/Nutt move back in '10 to schedule that series.

Right now I think Bjork has scheduled future series with Clemson, Georgia Tech and West Virginia. I wouldn't mind playing Texas Tech during the season again.

Georgia Tech'll be weird. On one hand they're kind of a pushover, but that triple option can really suck to deal with. I'm not sure why anyone would purposefully schedule against that type of offense when it's so different to defend against. West Virginia may have fallen on hard times and Clemson may have lost a few pieces but those'll be solid games. Lookin forward to them

Its obvious your stuck in the old msu mindset. At this time state would compete with those teams. We may not win them all but we would compete. Majority of the teams I listed are not the juggernauts they once were. Heck we play teams week in and week out that are just as good if not better in the sec. Also playing branded teams helps with recruiting and national exposure outside if the southeast, which we sorely need.

If that's the goal then I'd love to schedule Michigan. They have one of the largest fan bases and are still struggling. We made their arse quit.

We would smash GT right now and I wouldn't shy away from scheduling them anytime in the future. I'd love to get UCLA or USC in a home and home, just for the trip opportunities, but I doubt they would have any interest in scheduling us. ND would be great also, but I doubt they would do it for the same reasons. We are considered a subpar program, and toward the bottom of Division I by many fanbases outside the SEC. It would be nice to educate fans and people from outside our region about who we are, and what we have facility wise, etc..

Are you out of your mind?

Other than Michigan State, we could probably beat all of them and still might beat Michigan State. I'm not saying any of them are locks, but to say that any of them "Could easily beat us" is fricking laughable.

If you honestly think that we could make a run at 9-10 games this year and get "easily" beaten by that list of teams you are out of your fricking mind.

Georgia Tech ain't happening the ACC is likely going to a 9 team conference schedule plus they already play UGA. I highly doubt they schedule another SEC team.

If it was up to me? Kansas, Illinois, Virginia, Boston College, Colorado.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was Arizona in 2016 though.

I would have been on the phone with Kansas within 5 minutes of the announcement.

Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Minnesota, Rutgers, Boston College, Wake, Colorado, Cal, Iowa St, TCU are some quick choices that come to mind.
