If, and it is a big if, Stans stayed and we had kept Deville Smith, Hood, Bryant, etc. we could have possibly made the tourney b/c of a weak conference.
Then we would have gotten our arse kicked in the tourney, and been stuck with Stans 4 more years.
I'm glad Ray has the advantage of a down SEC so we don't look so terrible, and hopefully that helps get some good recruits in for next year.

You have no way of knowing this because there would still have been no offensive foundation whatsoever. Bryant graduated. If Stans had stayed, Hood would not have stayed anyway. Deville was a chicken with his head cut off. He would have stayed that way as long as Rick was his coach.

With a coach that could have gotten deeper in the NCAA's these kids are possibly playing in the NBA, but they didn't get that chance.
You forgot to mention that a kid Stans threw under the bus and kicked off for no reason is now playing overseas and doing well for himself. Phil Turner. Was basically kicked off to make room for The fat arse Sidney. Great move by Stans wasn't it?

Key word you missed "IF". I'm fully aware of what all you stated. I was just saying if we had retained that talent we possibly could have been a tourney team just because we'd beat shitty SEC teams on talent alone.

I would rather watch our team this year work their butts off then watch Sidney's fat arse walk down the court and play no defense. Lazy SOB. Needed dicipline and it's sad that a SEC basketball program cannot bring dicipline to him.

I agree with this no doubt. I think Ray will do good things at MSU if he recruits some solid talent.

wow- just wow.
Stansbury would have been hardpressed to have a winning record this year. No discipline, lots of youth, terrible floor coaching- doesnt add up to wins.
Stands went 15-15 during a rebuilding year in 2006 when he still had some fire. He had the easiest non-conference schedule in the history of the school. He had Gordon, Rhodes, and a few others that could play.
Can you imagine him this season- with all his lack of discipline and floor coaching- having to play North Carolina, Marquette, Texas- teams he couldnt beat with good teams- and having all these young kids to actually coach? It would be beyond embarrassing-at least Ray has them in shape and playing hard as hell.
Engie summed it up- Ware loses 30 pounds in 3 months with the same strength coach the Stands had for all his years and players. Stands didnt make them do shite or work hard. He is indefensable at this point.

We need 2 good big men and a PG
I'm confident in Ready at PG, but he big guy for. Africa may be a John Reik 2.0 with better knees and slightly better offense.

I am sure that my MSU basketball profile fits MANY MSU fans.
- I was a season ticket holder and went to every game.
- I started missing a few games and looked for people to buy my tickets.
- I missed more games and looked for people to take my tickets.
- I stopped buying season tickets and looked for singles to select games.
- I stopped going to any games.
- I stopped watching games on TV.
If Ray keeps these guys playing hard, I will be back. So will most people. Woody McCorvey knows more about offense than Stans knows about managing a basketball program.
