What a traitor. To not only leave his alma mater for Florida but then turn around and steal our most successful football coach of all time.

What a piece of shite. I hope he dies a slow painful death alone.

I think we will benefit in the long run, although I hate to lose Ms. Mullen. Nice lady and it will be harder to replace her than Dan.

I don't.

We won't make a good hire. Too many better programs looking for coaches.

This will end up being Rick Ray 2.0.... A consistently successful coach will be replaced by a long shot mostly unknown assistent from bumfrick university sister frickers and we will be lucky to make a damn bowl game.

I hope Mullen loses every gamd at UF and ends up an assistant at an FCS school making dog shite for a salary and his wife leaves him for a real man. frick him and the horse he rode in on

It's going to be an up and coming HC or a coordinator. Jeremy Pruitt would be a name I would call

you can't do worse than we did. Shitty of Mullen to up and leave like that. I guess we'll both go back to the cellar. It was a good couple years for our two programs

Basically what I think. Back to watching the Eggbowl that I grew up watching. Both teams fighting for bowl eligibility

I don't think he initially planned to. I think coming up short in the Bama game and losing the egg bowl made him realize as long as Saban is at Bama he doesn't have a shot to win the west at MSU. I think this drove him to go to Florida where he thinks he can build a championship program. It's not the money for sure cause we were willing to pay him to the point he was a top 6 highest paid coaches in the country.

Screw that line of thinking, but if that's what he thought good riddance. Saban will likely be gone by the time amulet turns 50. He had a shot at him in '14 and blew it with crappy coaching. Another chance to step up at UGA this year and came out like like three day old garbage. He had Saban beat this year and again blew it with coaching. Pretty obvious now the egg bowl performance over 3 of the past 4 years was due to him not being focused on exploring other jobs.

Thankful for what he did for the program but reality is we tolerated some lazy recruiting and poor in game coaching because we're MSU and other than Jackie he's the best we've had to date. For whatever reason he left, he and UF are a good fit and can't wait to watch them crash and burn.

If we had $6 million and an extra $1+million for assistants to offer Mullen then we've got it to go find a guy to move to he next level. Time to go get him.

Some posts floating around 247 that the decision to go for Mullen came from higher than Stricklin. And that also, Dan was wanting to leave regardless after the Bama loss.

Yeah for a time I thought he would take the Tennessee job, I say that for the reasons provided about going to the East opposed to being in the West. Also correct me if I am wrong, but I though Mullen and Strickland didn't exactly get along too well when they were together at State?

Anyway I new for a fact he was gone after the Egg Bowl, when you could see him smiling and laughing after losing to "HIS SELF PROCLAIMED" TSUN. I all previous years that he had loss he was always seen as being physically upset (this data is presented as from my own personal observations), but not this year. It was like he already had the papers signed and new this was the last game.

Anyways it looks like the Egg Bowl could potentially go back to the fight for bowl eligibility.

Mullen has been trying to leave for three years. State shudda helped him out the door last year, when it would have been easier to replace him.

Waiting, and letting him leave on his timetable, instead of State's timetable, was a mistake.

Of course, now that Cohen is AD (giving the impression that State might be too focused on baseball) might make it even harder to recruit a top quality coach.

Fingers crossed for signing Pruitt.

A Pruitt hire could end up having more long term stability than Mullen. Any coaching hire is a gamble, this one will be no different, than but hey we've only made one bad one in the last ~30 years.

I posted it over on the recruiting board, but Mullen offered Guidry today. Whoever we get, I hope they put a special kind of whipping on UF in September.
