We play in the SEC West. The toughest division in all of college football.
Yeah..and how do we expect to win in the "toughest division in all of college football" when we play pushovers?
They say, "You are what you eat." Well it's fairly probable that "You are who you play" would apply just the same. If you play and beat pushovers you cannot hope to be on par with the likes of this division we're in.
Playing UMASS doesn't help us at all. End of the story.

Couldn't you also make the case that playing pushovers allows you to rest your players and have a less beat up team for the big games?

So then, in your opinion, why do the "likes of this division" play McNeese State, Eastern Michigan, Syracuse, Western Kentucky, Jacksonville State, San Jose, Idaho, Middle Tennessee, ULM, and Charleston Southern.
Those are teams from LSU, Auburn, and Alabama, respectively.
Auburn also plays Louisville, and Bama plays Wisconsin. So LSU also has four nobodys, while Bama and Auburn have three, and aren't exactly playing the pinnacle of college football in the fourth.

So you really think playing a tough team before.. say a Bama would actually help us beat Bama? By that logic, the top NFL teams shouldn't be given a BYE in the playoffs. That BYE week must be terrible for them.

I love fricking with ya'll. UMASS is a very unsexy matchup though. Just admit it.

While I certainly agree with you, this was a quick fix solution to the Tulane fiasco. It was about as good as anyone could do in such a situation.
I mean, maybe not the playing up there part, but that's y'all's jam anyways.

I think the big part that people miss is that we save a ridiculous amount of money by playing these two for one games.

I think the South Alabama contract was somewhere around 600k for two home games and 1 away.
Take that and look at some schools getting 1Mil just for one home game, and it's a pretty good deal.

Naa, y'all play at shitty schools way, way more than anyone in the conference because you don't have the clout to tell them to frick off when they ask for a home game.
Also, we can hang our hats on 8-0 juuuuust fine these days.

Probably 250 pounds. Not much, for sure. Haven't deadlifted since high school.
