I assume he gets one more year, but imo he should be forced to make changes. Hire a decent OC, replace OL coach cause our OL is awful. I think we need a new S&C coach as well. We look out of shape in many games

100-1 against replacement for another yr.

Looked at 2020 schedule....the absolute I could imagine would be 9-3......and I think that's not gonna happen. that would have us losing to only Ala, LSU and Auburn. Hard to see that.......again, 100-1 of that happening. Best hope, 7-5.

I see starting 4-0 then losing next 4.

Mizzou and OM toss ups.

6-6 to 8-4.

6-6 or worse and JM is gone. 7-5 he gets 4th year on hot seat. 8-4 or better he starts to win back over some people

Man you guys must be doing some good stuff. I don't even see how we can make a bowl.

And we made several assistant coach changes this off-season. Obviously not the assistants, it's the HC.

And it's all on Cohen for deciding that beating a 4 win Ole Miss team makes up for being unprepared for Auburn, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Alabama, and now Louisville. And that's just 1 season.

We had a FIGHT in a practice and they're still shrugging it off.

Just unbelievable no wonder Kylins about to transfer.

I think that a 7-5 is possible. Will take not blowing some games. Not sure how good Ole Miss, and A&M will be. KY may kick our butt again, they do have a better HC in IMHO.
Anyway, we win all 4 non-conf. Beat Ark and Mz. One more to take it to 7. So 6-6 to 7-5. Anything less and I'll give money to fire JM........well, truth be told, I'll donate right frigging now.

THIS

We looked like a JV team against most of the SEC West especially the first quarter which is damn embarrassing. Look at the Auburn game... sure we played hard against LSU but that KSU game pissed me off. Another year and it will be like pre-Merlins. It’s always easier to tear down than to build up and Joe has taken a bulldozer to everything. I saw it last year with how undisciplined our players and that reflects on the HC.

Heard from the son of someone in the department it’s Napier coming in. I mean we all know it by now but I’m convinced.

Supposedly we are trying to get Grantham back as DC.

Forgive my ignorance but is Napier a "True" HC? I am sick of former OCs posing as a head coach. We need a Real HC with a real OC STC and DC.

Cohen sounded happy about the coaches that have contacted him. If it’s not Napier then we might all be surprised.

I’d love for Les to come on back to the south. He would win that locker room instantly and get some excitement back in the recruits.

Dan Mullen in the 2017 Egg Bowl Press conference said he was going to be our head coach in 2018.

I'll believe Napier if he says no on Tuesday

Guess that was their target...
Welp time for round 2. I agree that Cohen sounded happy about the options so I hope that wasn’t just smoke.

My thoughts also. The better programs have a HC with a DC and OC. If we cannot attract a good up and coming HC from somewhere, then it is just going to be the same again. We got lucky with Mullen but he used State as OJT to advance to a school with a much better chance of winning in the top tier. Mullen seemed able to do both, but that is rare.

All in all, with State's football program, I always expect the worse and sometimes get a mild surprise in the other direction. As someone who has not lived in Ms. since my graduation, and now nested in a middle to south Fl. city, surrounded by 'gator fans, I now see more Mullen news than I do of states coach. When Fl hired Mullen I made a comment to one of my gator friends that he left a much better team than he inherited. Didn't turn out that way did it? 2019 even worse for us.

Goodbye Joe.
