Strange that this Bama DL comes out of nowhere right after Humphrey's visit.
I'm not holding my breath on it; however, I will go on the record saying I'm buying the first round if we somehow pulled in Humphrey.

I agree with that.
I'm mostly talking about the gap if we don't hit on any big targets in this class. Would be basically a 2-year whiff at the position. Gotta have a few players here down the stretch.

Y'all think Cory Thomas flips?
Posted on 1/27/14 at 9:16 pm to Al Bundy Bulldog
I'm less confident than most -- simply because he left without actually flipping(that I've heard anyway) -- and because his recruitment hasn't made much sense to me all along. We need him badly though...

He's had a planned visit to Tennessee the whole time... I figured he would at least go on the visit.
What's the deal with all of these guys popping up at the last minute.
There's a safety that us and Alabama are recruiting. He has gotten several BCS offers in the last week and he's only rated somewhere around an 84 on 24/7. Apparently the Bama 24/7 guys say he's a take though...
Then the DL/OL from Louisiana that is committed to Bama. He's actually a pretty highly rated prospect that played in the UA all american game. OJ Smith? is it...

We do need Cory and I just can't see him at Tenn after the time and effort our staff has put in. I think we get him. Any feeling on Trey Carter?

No idea man. I've learned not to get "feelings" late in recruiting -- although signs seem to point well for us right now.
After seeing a ridiculously high percentage of the late-take diamonds turn into players for us, it's hard to get too caught up in the rankings game anymore.

It's just kids getting processed or having great senior years and coaching staffs getting updated film.
OJ Smith is a grade risk and has concerns about Bamas depth chart

If we can get Marcus Griffin, that's help our DL for sure. He tweeted a pic with Mullen and said he's visiting on Friday.

maybe he should have thought of that when he committed to them out of the blue last summer. I remember he said we were his leader then jumped at the first "big fish" offer he got.

Tee Shepard tweeted that he will be playing in the SEC this fall...Paul said we have a secret commit
coincidence?
coincidence?

i hope so, and the secret commit is Marlon Humphrey...lol (wishfool thinking)
Posted on 1/28/14 at 12:45 pm to jumbo
Yeah, Paul and Rosey are both pumping this "elite secret commit that we've heard about but thought we weren't in the game with" thing...
We'll see.
We'll see.

I'm done trying to follow, predict, and guess where these guys are going
just wait and see on signing day

I'm mostly there myself. Just don't have anything better to do today.
Wish I had a dollar for every person I've seen hit ice -- feel their car get light -- and immediately slam on brakes and go into an uncontrolled slide today. Holy hell it amazes me that some of these people manage to feed and clothe themselves -- much less drive down the road on an average day.

The hint is that it's got to be someone that would have an enormous amount of local pressure to commit to their school and not state. Now who it is I'm not sure but I wouldn't think Tee Shepard fits that bill at all.
Posted on 1/28/14 at 5:50 pm to DynastyDawg
As far as that goes, Marlon Humphrey fits the bill best, especially considering his general avoidance of the media.
Posted on 1/28/14 at 5:55 pm to DynastyDawg
Or it could just be someone who really enjoys creating drama and suspense.

Our recruiting is boring as frick. Anyone got any recent news?

Agreed. Last year at least the Chris Jones saga kept things interesting until NSD. This year I have barely followed recruiting at all.
Hopefully we can finish decently. Big Cory, Trey Carter, Stallings or Gray, plus the "elite secret commit" would be okay.
