Buchanan is legit.
I'm looking at the larger picture. VERY FEW MPSA players sign scholarships every year considering the number of teams and players they have in their league. They have 5'9" 175lb linemen, RBs who run 4.9 fortys, I have been around both leagues and honestly the Speed, strength, and numbers of public schools are the difference.
Very few MPSA guys even sign and play JUCO

Bundy, eliminate all the podunk 1A's and 2A's
We're talking strictly 3A private school football and there are some good players playing there. Relative to their size, they are just as good as the public schools.
Hell, 1A public school is about as weak as it gets too. Too many people want to compare Prep to South Panola- when in reality, Prep would be a 4A public school. And I dont see any 4A's from the MHSAA getting in line to get some of that USP arse.
If a kid can play- he can play. And give me a good private school guy, like Cam Lawrence, because he is usually a smart damn player also.

I played at MRA in the damn late 80's- and I never got to play against anybody that size. I was our 2nd smallest starter at 6'2-210, and I was going against bigger players damn near every week.

There are only what 10 3A private schools?
I admit Prep, JA, and MRA have talent after those three the pickings are slim.
Hillcrest football- a joke now but did produce Seth Smith
Parklane- hasn't been good in football since the Albritton boys
Lamar- meh
Pillow- was good when Herbert Davis was there. Puts out a few JUCO boys
Lee- never seen anybody come out of there
PCS- produced our own RebFeBrees but no football players
Washington- ???? Never known them to put out any players
Starkville- Prossr and McKenzie
Copiah- very few
ACCS- a random lineman to Colin every blue moon
In AA you have 3 decent teams
Brookhaven Academy Good when Herbert Davis was there
Simpson- always good only D1 guy they had Kyle Wallace was a career backup a State
Magnolia Heights- Lawrence Boys and Russ Shows
I know MPSA football coonass just feel the majority of its teams are extremely pathetic so bad some don't even need to be game planned for if you have any talent and coaching

3. Antonio Conner- Batesville (MS) South Panola- Conner has had a very quiet summer, electing not to do the camp circuits and instead just visiting some of the campuses of his top four schools (Ole Miss, Miss. St, Alabama, LSU). Conner comes from the practically semi-pro football factory of South Panola, which historically is one of the best high school programs nationally. Conner is an elite athlete, and complemented his superb junior year on defense with 1,472 yards rushing and 22 touchdowns. Heck, he even threw for 2 touchdowns. Conner has said that early playing time will be a big factor in his decision, so it will probably come down to Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Even though Oxford is only a couple miles down highway 6 from Batesville, I have a hunch Conner will be going to Starkville. Early Prediction: Mississippi State.

and just like most of the 2A and 1A private schools are garbage- but they are mostly the size of 1A public school. How many D-1 guys does 1A public school produce? Aint been many Donald Lee's

These guys played 1A off the top of my head

There is a lot of good 2A guys as well
Jason Campbell
Timmy Ducksworth

I agree with your argument that public schools overall are better. but of course there are more examples of d1 players from 1a public schools than 1a private schools because there are a ton more public schools

Not really
There are 34 1A public schools who play football in Mississippi while there are 26 A MAIS schools not to mention the 16 MAIS schools who play 8 man football. so it's not THAT big of a difference

Let all quit bitching about where they go to school and rather just judge them on their athletic ability and skill
Posted on 8/2/12 at 8:56 pm to Al Bundy Bulldog
It has nothing to do with skill, speed, blacks, or competition. It simply has to do with numbers. Brookhaven Academy, which is where I went, would be a small single A if they were public. This argument is so dumb, but you are impossible to debate, so I'll stop.
Fact is, I went to school with plenty of guys who could have played JUCO orD2, but a lot of academy boys would much rather go be frat stars at OM or MSU than play at that level.

Exactly. 1A private school /=/ 1A public school. Equal out the classification, and the MAIS would compete on every level.
MHSAA enrollment(9th-12th):
6A: 1080+
5A: 760-1079
4A: 485-759
3A: 305-484
2A: 197-304
1A: 54-196
MAIS enrollment(9th-12th)
Prep - 543
JA - 392
Pres Chr - 280
Hillcrest - 276
Washington - 264
Parklane - 244
Starkville - 219
Copiah - 208
MRA - 200
Mag Heights - 173
Brook Aca - 133
So, if you threw the MAIS into MHSAA, you've got 1 4A, 1 3A, 5 2A, and a TON of 1A schools.
Prep would compete in 4A. JA would compete in 3A. MRA would wreck shite in 2A. BA and Mag Heights would compete in 1A. No doubt.
MRA is 3 people away from being a 1A school. Forest Williams would have a dynasty on 1A public school competition.

Edit that. You make great points and took some time putting that together, but all Bundy will see and argue is that you listed St. Andrews are part of te MAIS.

This is incorrect I know someone who has kids in school there and they said the classes are around 75 in each grade and they graduated 70 last year. I'd guess PCS is between 270-300
Also hard to believe that MRA only has 200 students and have fewer than Copiah and Starkville ACA.
