Shouldnt y'all be recruiting OL and DL?

I haven't checked yet but I don't think Kailo and Shumpert would take up our last 12+ scholarships so we should still have some left to give to some OL and DL to go along with the 2 OL and 2 DL we have committed.

Shouldn't yall be recruiting some other RBs since we're taking yours?

Perkins is a junior, Griffin's a sophomore and Robinson/Milton are both Freshman. We can afford to miss out a year.

If they would honestly rather play for a guy whose primary rusher was his QB @ Ark St, on a dream team that rushed for <4ypc in the Sun Belt, good luck to them.

Never going to happen though. All the "flipping" had better be done before Sept hits...and we put up another 2500+ yards on the ground.

I think this year's football season will probably keep our guy's around. At least I hope.

Lets be real...
-your OL will be bad this year. You lost some of the good O-Linemen from last year and are replacing them with their backups that were terrible last year.

-Ballard carried the ball 193 times, Relf carried the ball 123. Ark St QB carried it 161 times, their RB carried it 123 times. In both cases the QB took about as many snaps as the main RB.

-Russell is not mobile so teams will not have to worry about him in the option game like they did Relf, and he will not have much time to get many passes off

-Your WRs are average so he can't just throw it up and hope they make a play

-Most of your plays will be handoffs or dump off passes to the backs who have either never taken a snap or have taken less than 15 snaps their entire career

and with all that in mind you think you're going to put up 2500+ on the ground?

Mullen's teams have averaged 2600yards rushing without a legit threat to pass. Put up 2731 with Tyson Lee running the show.

It's funny that you reason that your OL will improve after losing both tackles, yet ours will be worse? We had players that were forced to play too soon last year due to injuries. That does not make them bad players. Just means they weren't ready yet, as almost no 2nd yr OL that State/OM get is. That experience will help them going forward, as it already has from what we are told with Day and Clausell. I can show you footage of Derek Sherrod as a 2nd yr player from the 2008 Egg Bowl if you'd like as proof...Our OL will be serviceable this year, and very good from next year going forward...

Maybe this explains the Trent Simpson commitment:

I didn't say our OL will be better and I don't think it will actually so I don't know where you got that from.

Your OL was supposed to be serviceable last year and turned out bad, and you lost a couple of the better OLinemen to the NFL draft. Are you telling me the sophomores or freshmen that were backing them up and were bad will replace them this year and be better than the NFL level OLinemen that you lost?

There is no way to determine if our OL will be better or worse. You can't just look at who we lost and who we return because we have a totally different system with a brand new coaching staff along with a new S&C program. Everything has changed. Last year we returned our entire two deep, while adding Matt Hall after finishing 3rd in the SEC in rushing, yet our OL got worse.

The only decent lineman we lost was RT Addison Lawrence. James Carmon played LT and split with Clausell who will start now. IMO Clausell was better than Carmon. We lost Preseason-All SEC candidate Tobias Smith three games into the season. Carmon got hurt at some time. Our only new player will be at RT

LT-Clausell
LG-Gabe Jackson (preseason all-sec)
C-Dillon Day (outland award candidate)
RG-Tobias Smith
RT-Damien Robinson or Charles Siddoway

Both our RT's are serviceable and should get the job done. As long as we can stay somewhat injury free we should be fine. Injuries to Smith and Carmon hurt us last year. Clausell wasn't quite ready when Carmon got hurt. We have 3 sophomore OL and I'm curious as to how they'll hold up but I'm optimistic because I'm sure we will be improved.

Clausell was like a revolving door which is why yall threw a crippled Carmon back in to replace him as soon as you possibly could.

Lawrence was the only decent lineman you lost, so Carmon is less than decent? And Clausell was that bad compared to a less than decent Carmon, but your OL will improve this year?

Clausell was a freshman. How many freshman OL are just outstanding the moment they step on the field? He's got a year under his belt in the SEC. No OL can come in and dominant college ball I'm sorry. Derek Sherrod looked almost as bad his freshman year and then look at the difference between that and his sophomore year. So yeah I will say we should be improved.

Well if one player gets better between his freshmen and sophomore year then all players at that position obviously will, good point.

We didn't have an OL drafted last year. We had 3 invited to training camps as undrafted free agents. IMO the only one with any chance of making a roster is Saulsberry as a Guard.

That does not translate to "NFL caliber OL" lost, simply average OL with SEC experience. We returned all our (surefire) NFL talent on the OL in both guard positions. Gabe Jackson will likely be one of the first 3 OG's off the board in 2014. Tobias Smith has mid/early round potential if he shows an ability to stay healthy. We return over half our starts from last year at LT and C, in now rsSOs Clausell and Day. We signed the #1 JUCO C last year, and he's been unable to take Day's spot, which bodes well for that position.

The big questionmark for me is RT, where we've got 4* rsSO Damien Robinson and the former #1 HS prospect in Oregon, Charles Siddoway. Hopefully one of the 2 will be serviceable.

The OL will be tested in week 2, no doubt. Auburn's DE's scare me. Then, we won't be TRULY tested again until week 9 @ Alabama. Will have plenty of time to gel...
