Miami (OH) 2013 Roster

- DB Jay Mastin and LB Kent Kern combined for 25 tackles and an interception last week.

Line: Kentucky is favored by 17 on most lines.

UKAthletics.com Blog, Tuesday Practice

Pretty slow practice news day. The two big things were that TreVaughn Paschal is doing well after being moved to #1 on the depth chart at WLB. And Stoops and Co. has decided to hold off on moving Bud Dupree from DE to LB.

Do you think that for them to switch so quickly from Whitlow to Smith that they were never sure on Whitlow to begin with as the starter?
I think Whitlow would be a great Randall Cobb type, would like to see him on the field with Smith.

From what I've gathered it was a close race with Whitlow separating himself from the pack in scrimmages/live play. I don't think the staff anticipated him acting like a deer in headlights and felt after looking at tape that Smith deserves a shot.

FWIW, Stoops has multiple times they'll use packages with Whitlow and that even with Smith as a starter he'll get on the field.

I read where Miami runs an option based attack so, Cats D will see a lot of run game again this week. DE's need to contain the edges and LB's need to finish tackles this week.

I know you guys are in for a rough year, but this game will bring some smiles, I think. This is, most likely, the worst Miami (OH) team ever. Who the F gives up almost 600 yards to Marshall? They have 5 guys on D that had their first career start in that game, IIRC.

I predict a very bad day for Miami, despite Kentucky's woes.

I agree. It should be a good chance for UK to get the WKU debacle out of their minds and prepare for UL.

UKAthletics.com Wednesday Practice Coverage

The above link has video from Stoops, Brown, and Max Smith this week.

Some notes:

- Apparently injuries are mounting and coaches are getting a bit concerned. Didn't go into specifics but suggested there are a few more than we know about.

- Maxwell Smith has been practicing well and has really stepped it up from a leadership standpoint in practice.

- Coaches are concerned about the receivers blocking abilities.

- Timmons is a beast, fumble aside.

UKAthletics.com Thursday Practice Report

Stoops had some things to say about Marcus McWilson (had some grade issues but things have been cleared up and he's a "different guy").

Reiterated Timmons will get additional reps this week.

As far as injuries, Stoops wouldn't comment on Kory Brown's availability. They are moving some guys around to compensate for that potential loss Saturday.
