It became obvious Driskel just did not have any confidence....we needed a spark.
But lets not fool ourselves...we won this game with pure 100% defense. Dan Marino at qb would not have saved us if our defense had not stopped them time after time. Christy also deserves a lot of credit...he did hit short a few times trying to pin them deep...but he boomed some kicks and also punted them deep...they constantly had goalpost shadows over their shoulder to start every possession except for turnovers and a couple of others.
What concerns me is our lack of playmakers on offense...difference makers, game changers. We don't have much ammunition frankly. Wrs are not doing what I thought they'd do before the season.
Where was Fulwood? Except one catch where in the hell is Dunbar? Pittman is average at best. Our lack of recruiting on offense shows....but look at our shiney polished Cadillac defense! Lol. Our defense is the real reason we won..a lesser defense would have packed it in.
Im not too fond of Ropers playcalling at this point. We ran way too many plays that didn't give us a chance to be successful. Part of it was lack of faith in Driskel...but some of it is questionable.
We are on the way to Hotlanta and my step son can not be here to watch Vandy or girls school games lol.

Love you man.
Also, we have a legitimate shot with Treon at the helm. I would expect him to start next game, but I also expect Muschamp to sort of say: Okay kid, you get one more chance.
Personally, the team has clearly made their choice -- time to move on with the future.

If Muschamp runs Driskel out there next week, he will lose the majority of his team.

The thing is -- if it were any of us we'd acknowledge what's going on.
Muschamp just doesn't seem to be in tune with the team. There is absolutely no way he could not have seen that no one supported Driskel as QB on the offensive side of the ball.
And I mean, you can see it in body language, in every facet it seemed that they wanted Treon to be given a chance even as a freshman.
The reason I qualify so much though, is Muschamp seems to make really goddamn bad decisions everywhere. I hope for our sake we start Treon the next game just to see where we are.
We have a chance, a legitimate chance, but again because the entire SEC seems to be convulsing right now. Bama.

Straw...ease up on Muschamp...he and the staff did not feel Treon was ready to take snaps in an away arena in front of hostile crowd. As it is, Treon has been coached up....but he still has training wheels on with limited play calls to help him. The reason Boom didn't insert Treon before is that he simply wasn't ready....and still isn't but he no choice after our horrible offensive showing today.
Did you watch the AU-LSU game? The LSU frosh qb was touted before the game and he was terrible, just God awful. Im hoping we keep the offense simple and coach up Treon as much as we can. With our defense we only need a steady offense.
Off subject....has anyone else wondered why in the hell # 20 is still out there on the field? Surely we must have someone who can take over for Maye? He scares the hell outta me in coverage and UT exploited him until we made sure to have help around him. He does seem to do well in run game stops and maybe he should have limited snaps where he can play run support or safety blitzs?

I know why they didn't put Treon in -- but it's clear that the team will not perform for Driskel. Maybe he did something they didn't like -- maybe they don't think he's a good quarterback, they're not communicating -- but I refuse to believe that Muschamp and company turned a completely blind eye to that fact.
I have been harsh on Muschamp, but it's hard not to be. The team sort of does what it wants and that much is apparent. He makes horrible decisions all game long, seems excited about beating Tennessee by 1 point after a few miracles and having an abortion of an offense.
The guy's whole demeanor is bad for our program. Even if we start winning, what this is telling me is that Muschamp has no other tool in his bag. No idea what to do to adjust for a quarterback that's struggling. We can't hope for a Manziel or Towley to come every year to bail us out.
The guy has the talent on the field but just produces jack. Hopefully Treon brings a new life to the team -- even if it's unfair -- so that we can start being Florida again.

I'm with you on this -- like I said, it reminded me a lot of Murphy last year. Savior, Master and Commander...came in and played miserably bad against Kentucky.
I think Treon was kinda gifted the end though, even by our fellow Gator fans. We had our best starting field position and -- well, Matt Jones basically just pounded the ball in for the score.
There was maybe one pass and a decent scramble, but the majority of the production came from the running game -- which just miraculously started when he came in with absolutely no explanation whatsoever. (Matt Jones saying that Treon can run, as if Driskel can't was a massive joke.)

Honestly, every time someone drops back now I get a bad feeling. Outside of Hargreaves, we really got nothin' back there. We need some serious development at safety. We just don't have the lights out players like Reggie Nelson.

Its well known that alot of guys in 2012 felt Brisset was the better QB during that spring and the fall camps and didnt get a fair shot in the opening game to claim the job. I dont think they have ever gotten over that.

I am no Muschamp apologist and they guys on this board that were posting here last year know I wanted him fired after the Vanderbilt game. In his post game conference he said "lets not get crazy and full of ourselves here, it not like we are the 85 Bears, we gotta lot of work to do". To be fair he just saved his job again and he was excited not to mention his secondary which was torched 2 weeks before got the int and saved the teams arse on the final drive.

The decision to play Dawson at safety and Tabor at CB was great today imo. Plus the staff simplified the defense for them and they played to their strengths. The shoring up of the secondary during the bye week was to be commended.

Go Gators! So happy with Harris' performance... he's gotta stay.
Loved the defensive changes... Made a huge difference.
It's awesome to remember having a good rivalry victory.

I also didn't notice # 55 on the field...Cummings the offside/personal foul master. Hate to throw players under the bus....but he caused a lot of flags....and did ANYONE notice only 5 fricking flags were thrown on us? Holy whale poop...and UT had 8 called...praise the Lord.
Also...sure we ran the ball late when Treon came in....because UT was worn down by then...they are thin on both lines and we hit Worley early and often and most importantly...we didn't allow long passes. Marquez North is their big time receiver and he was blanketed all game....the pick by VH3 in the end zone was on a pass to North....pressure by the DL also caused Worley to not have enough zip on the ball.

Y'all are a 10x more threatening team with Treon Harris at QB

I agree with everything else -- but why sabotage Driskel if he won the position? Brisset was a good quarterback, too, but he didn't do anything different.
I wonder how many of them think Murphy was better? He came in and didn't do anything different.
I know sabotage is a strong word, but I think if you look back at what I've been saying: Receivers jog routes, they don't catch worth a frick with Driskel and the running game doesn't seem to do anything.
No support from the fans, no support from his team. I still don't think he's nearly as bad as people say he is.

We can debate this all day, but the fact is when Treon came into the game, EVERYTHING changed.
If Muschamp throws Driskel out there next week, he will lose the team. Period.

No we're totally agreed that it changed -- but we can also agree that the team does not support Driskel. I've been saying it since the Kentucky game: They do not help him at all.

Like I've said several times in this thread already: The team clearly knows who they want as quarterback, and Muschamp has two things he can do:
Stick to principles, have his team mutiny and lose his job.
Or go with what the team wants and play Treon.

Idk how you can prove that though. Robinson had the game of his life against UK, then drops it 4 times yesterday?
Hes inconsistent, as are the rest of our skill players, aside from Taylor and Jones.
EDIT: And I think we can all exhale after what UK did last night. They are definitely a much better team this year than they have been in years past.
They are no joke.

Yep. Treon Harris should be our starter this year.
Y'all think Grier is gonna transfer or do you think he and Harris will battle it out next year?

I think Kelvin Taylor should get more carries. Though Matt Jones played great

Depends on how Harris performs the rest of the year.
If he lights it up, job is his to lose heading into camp next season.

I really can't give absolute evidence -- but just listen to the stuff the reporter said from yesterday about the team when Treon took over.
Suddenly they were communicating together, people were doing their assignments, we were running with ease.
I can't imagine there to be any other explanation than they wanted Harris to be the quarterback.
What else could there be? They found their hands just at that moment? They found the creases? They completed their assignments suddenly? I mean, Treon may be the better quarterback (let's pump the brakes here) but I don't think anyone on the team supported Driskel in the way they could have.
Call it effort, call it wanting Harris to succeed -- even call it Harris being a better communicator, but I think the majority of the team did not try their hardest for Driskel.
I saw a bunch of receivers simply jogging routes, dropping balls, blowing assignments, not finding the hole, not breaking off ANY kind of run -- then suddenly they perform all of this without a problem?
One of those shoring up is to be expected -- all of them is suspect.

Straws I think the luck of the draw is what happened...we get turnover with Tabors big hit/fumble on Worley at their 30 yd line and the plain fact is that the turnover alone juiced us up....AND UT has no depth and the 4th qt isn't kind to them...they just cant sub much on either side of the ball....but defense is where you need it the most....so0 yes we could run easier.
That being said...Driskel just is too slow pulling the trigger and has lost confidence. I know our wrs aren't helping him and they may not help Treon much either...but a quick release passer throws the wrs open. Drops and bad routes should earn seat on bench...maybe put Bailey out there?
BTW # 55 did play late in the game and stuff the middle of the line to prevent runs...fresh legs really helped us on the DL and Fowler was a beast. The player Im impressed with is # 14 McAllister....he is almost 6'7" with huge wingspan and is coming on...he came to UF as a skinny 225 lber. Having # 14 and # 6 on both ends of the line causes a lot of disruption in oassing game...add # 11 and we can heat em up, but GREAT call to send the corner blitz on Worley with Tabor stripping and recovering. Keanu Neal is also proving to be a game changer and with Dawson getting more snaps we should betting much better.
