It's actually impossible to truly analyze the 2013 offense to create any kind of reasonable projection for 2014.

There are a number of reasons for this:

A. UF played 6 games with a back up QB - He played hurt in 3 of those.
B. UF played 3 games with a third string QB.
C. Only Max Garcia and Jonothan Harrison started every game for Florida last season on the OL. Garcia played 4 different positions as injuries occurred. The line didn't have the same lineup in any game all season long.
D. There is a new OC, OL coach, and WR coach

Given that though, here is what we do know:

1. UF is healthy.

2. UF has an experienced, talented starting OL
Starting 5:

DJ Humphries, JR, 6’5, 290, 19 games played, 9 starts
Tyler Moore, RS JR, 6’5, 325, 16 games played, 9 starts
Max Garcia, RS SR, 6’5, 294, 26 games played, 24 starts
Trenton Brown, SR, 6’8, 350, 12 games played, 5 starts
Chaz Green, RS SR, 6’5, 305, 20 games played, 20 starts

3. UF has it's best WR corp, on paper, since 2009.
Expected contributors post spring:

Quinton Dunbar, RS SR, 6’2, 195
Chris Thomspon, SO, 6’0, 170
Andre Debose, RS SR, 6’0, 190
Ahmad Fulwood, SO, 6’4, 202
Demarcus Robinson, SO, 6’1, 205
Lattroy Pittman, JR, 6’0, 208
Valdez Showers, RS JR, 6’0, 194
Alvin Bailey, RS FR, 5’11, 187

4. UF has one of the most talented and experienced QB's in the conference who is about to start for the first time in a system in which he has been shown to be statistically much more proficient at operating.

5. UF received an important transfer in the form of 6'6, 255 TE RS SR Jake McGee from Virginia, who adds an immediate and GIGANTIC upgrade for the TE position in the offense.

His stats: 71 receptions, 769 yards, 7 TD

6. UF has a new OC with a history of success and a new OL coach that is one of the most well respected in the country.

Given all of those things, especially #1, #2, and #5, it's easy to see that UF's offense is going to be better in 2014. The only question is how much better.

Really? Huh. I guess he just looks a lot lankier to me then Tebow. Maybe I just saw too many games of Tebow running over our LB's.

Good info. So you're the Florida equivalent of WG Dawg huh?

Also consider stats like this:

At Duke, (which is considerably less talented than Florida)

Roper's offenses averaged 47 red zone trips per year - the last 6 years
Florida offenses averaged 42 red zone trips per year - the last 3 years

Ropers offenses scored TD's in the red zone 55.5% of the time over the last 6 years
Florida's offenses scored TD's in the red zone 48.4% of the time over the last 3 years.

Roper's offenses averaged 263 yards passing and 20.5 TD passes the last 6 years at Duke
Florida's offense averaged 167.6 yards and 12.3 TD passes the last 3 years.

And I think it's important to note that Roper did this with the 2nd to worst talent in his entire conference. It'll be interesting to see what he can do with better athletes and a better defense backing him up.

Jeff is a solid kid in person. I am not worried about him getting injured when scrambling, just when he is in the pocket, ie the Tenn injury last season and the Bama injury his freshman year. He does not have a "spidey sense" for blind side blitz.

That will not be as much of a problem in the new offense that keys off of getting the ball out quickly. One of my first reactions to the Roper hire was that the Duke offense would be perfect for Driskel. It hides his weakness and promotes his strengths.

7. UF has a stable of solid running backs. Possibly the best in many years.

We don't know that for sure.

Matt Jones hasn't proven anything, mostly because he was either sick or hurt all of last year.

Mack Brown has never been anything special.

Adam Lane has never played.

Kelvin Taylor looks solid.

But I wouldn't list that as a for sure thing. Just something I'm pretty sure about.

The problem with looking at Duke's productivity is the ACC ain't exactly known for its powerhouse defenses. They've been a two to three team league for a while now.

Yeah, but look at it this way...

Duke had, by far, the worst talent in that entire conference.

Only Wake Forest was as close to being as bad as duke from a recruiting perspective.

So yeah, the ACC top to bottom is weaker than the SEC, but Duke was putting up these numbers consistently against better athletes.

On the flip side, UF has some of the better recruits in the SEC.

I heard this same story come out of Boise State vs. Bigger teams.

That did not transfer well to our team, if I remember correctly.

For the record I was never excited about the Pease hire. It got blown up cause Saban was after him.

You are talking to the most anti-boom UF fan. Pease sucks.

Pease's redzone play calling might of been the worst I have ever seen.

Let us not forget Addazio's 3 play playbook.

And he only used one play out of those 3. Never could mix it up.

Also, good breakdown slayer. The McGee transfer is HUGE. We could have a dangerous passing game if the OL decides to block this year.
