He had but the UAA and HAL
Got cheap and top 5 class left for more money. 2 of them to fricking Auburn who somehow with a new coach and less talent then UF found a way to get to 6-6
So can't blame Billy for that he can only get them committed he can't offer them money to stay committed that is on the UAA and boosters to step up.
We had a great Haul of some much needed defensive line talent and lost them all.
Which even in today's college football is unbelievable.
All the teams in the playoffs except maybe Washington have defensive lineman and ends that get after and pressure the QB.

We already know Hal and the UAA will not step up and make that happen.
So get Evertybody' lovable Fisch or go get whomever you can get because you are not getting a top coach for 7 or 8 mil a year even Kiffen is making 8 figures now at OLE PISS!!!

I agree with your take.
This is the thing, if the UAA/boosters won't pony up, we might as well get a coach who can make lemons out of lemonade and maybe keep us somewhat competitive with lesser talent than a recruiter who can't coach for shite, and can't recruit due to coming to a war zone armed with a butter knife.
It's a lose-lose but the losses would at least be less lopsided with a guy who knows how to actually coach.

Some boosters were evidently willing to pony up for the high school players but its mostly a slotted market now except for the very top QBs. The guys we lost at the end just decided to play elsewhere at likely about the same price.
As far as this portal nonsense now I do wonder if some of the boosters have given up on Napier as even his joke "process" slowness shouldn't have us in this position right now.

I wish our big boosters were more like they were years ago and like the ones at Georgia and some SEC West teams now but if I was a big booster I might hold back until Napier is fired looking at the clusterf*ck he has created. Literally the worst coach here since WW2 had just ended.
